Yea Sorry, I don't have a vbox. My gps has read over 155 also. 161 mph. But I guess that could have been wrong as well.

Ive gotten a few text message pictures from one of my Stage 3 customers in Georgia who has hit over 190mph a few times...

He obviously has the Speed Limiter Removed...

what I don't understand is the dash is showing you higher speed than 155 but the vehicle actually getting limited at legitimate 155. Do two systems monitor speed?

Not expecting you to know, just weird reading what you all experienced...

Most speedo in every car that read that high are usually off by a few mph. Probably just trying to save your life..

Thats a very valid point, I know that the wheel speed sensors are used for ABS and I would have assumed that those were also used for actual speed, but I know some old cars used a cable drive off the transmission, not sure if its the same for late model bmw's or if its off the can bus. One would assume it would be off the can bus.

I looked at this video again. The dash says 173mph and the VBox says 173mph but the tires are taller so that might explain why they read the same. Stock tires will probably show the dash reading much faster than it is.

I don't know exactly how fast I was going...it was around 260km/h as I glanced at the speedo...I didn't have any GPS verification.

Different Tire size and what not plays a factor there also

I was just told that the E46 M3 uses a speed sensor in the diff to calibrate the speedometer.. i'm not sure i'm buying it though.

Was that run with or without your speedlimiter in place?

Comes from transmission there is a speed sensor on it. Unplug the rear most plug and speedo dont work. I didnt do this just guessing
