Question Front brake hose 325xi vs 325i

Does Anyone know if the front brake hoses for a 325i and 325xi are the same? Its not clear from some of the part suppliers. Real OEM has different part numbers for the two models but some website list the 325i hose as compatible with the with the 325xi. I'm skeptical.

Also any feedback regarding Meyle Hoses for a daily driver.

Ok I know they're not the same part as they have different numbers but are they close enough to be used? Can a non-xi front hose be used on an XI

Get that part number because that is what is listed for your car. Meyle lines are fine, I have them on my car.

Yeah I know, but was hoping maybe they are only different by a few mm or so. Not so much as to be a problem though. The non-xi prices are considerably less then the xi prices. I'm trying to help out a friend who is low on cash. I offered to put them in for her. Some of the websites with Stainless Steel hoses also say that the 325i hose are are compatible with with the 325xi. But we have all heard the horror stories, parts ordered but wont fit. As thing are going will also need to get a set for my wagon. I'm considering Stainless for that as I intend to keep it for awhile. Anyway glad to here that the Meyel's are ok, I've had luck with them for other parts and I'll probably go with them if I can find them for the xi at a decent price. I still would like to know if anyone has been successful using the non xi hose on the xi. Who knows for sure, it might be a good way for other to save a few bucks.

Have to correct myself, XI part number is 34326766966

The non-xi is the one I posted before. They're different for a reason, I can't say why but that's just how it is.

Smile Difference 325xi vs 325i Brake Hose

Found the answer, looks like they might work except for the length

Here is the spec length for the non-xi BMW Part Number 34326766966

and for the xi BMW part Number 34306752400

Found on http://www.findpart.org/part/bos-1987481331

I think the brake lines have to be routed around the front CV on the XI, hence the difference in length

The greater ride height of the XIs compared to an I is the main reason the XI's brake hoses are longer. Get the proper length/part number and there should be no issues. On my XI's (a 325xi and a 330xi sport) I have installed stainless steel brake hoses and those sets are listed/part numbers are different than the 2 wheel drive E46s.

The two hoses are about 4 inches different in length or about 25% longer then the rwd hose, that is a lot IMO. I will be using xi specific hoses. The extra length may only come into play at the extremes of the travel. I don't want to discover they are to short on a rutted dirt back road. For lowered/modified XI's maybe no problem you won't be on that road anyway.

With that said, its possible hoses listed to fit both the I and xi may have been made longer to fit both. OK for the xi but more hose then needed and a bad compromise for the non-xi. The other possibility is the seller doesn't know the difference (or does't care to know). If i were to buy a hose listed to fit both I would want to know how long it is. you decide, you make the choice then if the length works out
