help with tailight issue
i have a 2001 325ci and about a week ago the tail light warning lid up on my dash, i checked the bulbs and everything worked fine, bulbs were not burned out and the connection was fine. i started doing some research and found out about the faulty break light switch, i went ahead and ordered a new oem one and swapped them out this morning. the warning is still lid up and now my break lights are on constantly when i start the car
my question is, after replacing the break light swtich, does it need to be positioned in a certain way that it touches the pedal a little or is it supposed to be secured inside the square to hold it in place? thanks for any input. appreciate it |

the brake sensor should be adjusted such that when your not on the brake, the sensor is off. when your on the brakes, the sensor is on. the sensor is a magnet which should slide forward/backward for adjustment. make sure the sensor is not touching any metal when your not on the brake.

And the break sensor is on the break light switch? The old switch was held in place in the square on the metal mount, and when I installed the new one I couldn't get it to stay in one place, although it is there, and makes sense about the magnet, I might have to reinstall it tomorrow

Fixed it, changed the switch and couple of bulbs and it worked, figured out how to place the break light switch socket in correctly, thank you
