Do you enjoy drinking alcohol?

Do you like the taste? The feeling it gives you? The social factor? What else?

My friends are always giving me shit for not drinking massive amounts of beer with them. I will have one, or a shot or something. Maybe two. First of all, I think it all tastes like crap. The only beer I ever had that tasted halfway decent was something like a Guinness - and apparently I've tried some "awesome" beers since several of my friends are brewers themselves. The cheap stuff tastes like nasty watered down junk and I think most can agree that its only purpose is to get you drunk.

Then there's the feeling. It's fun for a tiny bit because it makes you loosen up, but I don't like the dizzy, off-balance, out-of-focus effects. It also makes me really tired physically, but I can't sleep without my mind racing and tossing and turning at night.

So maybe it just affects me differently than most people, but there's got to be more people who don't like it either.

I like drinking but I'm not responsible enough to keep me at an appropriate buzzed level, that's when it starts to suck.

However, I haven't had a drink for about 4 months because of work / smoking.

I enjoy drinking. I only enjoy certain types of liquor. I hate taking shots. I highly enjoy the social factor.

Its weird, the more I drink, the less I feel it. Makes me looser, easier to talk to the sloots, have more fun. It also makes me sleep like a BABY. Ill pass out and feel fantastic in the morning. Except for the hangover part, on occasion.


I enjoy it. Put I hate how much it ends up costing me.

I was told the goal is not to get drunk, but to stay at the buzzed level so you aren't passing out and just keep the good feeling. I don't really have that phase.. it's either normal feeling, or crappy feeling.

I don't really drink. I'll have a beer or two or sip on some nice scotch but that's about it. I have pretty much only been drunk 2-3 times in my life and really don't find it all that enjoyable. A buzz every now and then is fine but I probably only experience that a hand full of times a year. Helps relax a bit I suppose.

Most beers I hate, the taste is just terrible, but some are alright.

I can't drink beer. I do love rum and cokes. Wish they made non-alcoholic drinks that taste like a rum and coke.

I once looked up symptoms of alcoholism and apparently I fall under the category of a functioning alcoholic, though by the standards I was reading I would think half the world qualifies as that.

I'm over it. I used to drink every weekend, but now I find myself drinking less every year.

These days I only drink if it's a party or some other GTG.

Yes, yes I do. I love beer and liquor is a beautiful thing when you're in the mood. Hangovers suck, but they're worth it for the fun had the night before. OP, just like with anything else, you get better at it the more you do it. I've had a lot people tell me they can never tell when I'm drunk; the days of getting dizzy or out of focus are long gone except for the rarest occasions.

No, not really. Can't really stand the taste of beer, although an icy cold Michelob on a hot day after working in the yard goes down pretty good, 1 is probably the most I'll get down. I will have an occasional drink with dinner if I go out to eat, again only 1. On the rare occasion I want to tie one on, (about once a year) I'll slam a couple of Car Bombs or a few shots of Tequila.

Uh, yes. In addition to enjoying being drunk/buzzed, I also really enjoy drinking different wines

I have a friend who doesn't drink but it's because both of his parents are alcoholics, so that's understandable. The only other person I've ever known that didn't drink was a roommate I got stuck with and he was one of the more miserable people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting.

OP, how do you unwind? I just feel like people who don't drink at all must not have much stress in their life.

I only get the nice buzzed feeling from wine. Its hard to get **** faced off wine, for some reason. Hard liquor is another story, usually don't know my limit.
