Mighty Car Mods [Ipad]

Hey Everyone,

How are we all?

Thats good, I am also well.

I was just watching Mighty Car Mods and saw this video:

And I thought, would this work in an e46? I have read into dynavins but they're over $800 mostly and an Ipad 1 is roughly $150 and less if you want. The problems would be pretty simple, Would it work and if it did work would it actually make any decent sound without or with a amp? I know the stock speakers should be okay but I know BMW speakers dont work well with stuff that isnt exactely the way the OCD germans wanted it.

So yeah if anyone thinks this is possible, throw me a yell and if you think it doesnt, hell yell as well.

It would be a great bargain replacement for the currently aging cd player that Is great at doing its job now but to upgrade is a price you will never be able to make back unless you do somthing like this.

Just my thoughts, leave yours,

~ Pythonis

Also maybe considering getting these crazy ECU apps as well, totally would be boss to have the Nissan GTR screen for a BMW, man that would be SICK

I'm going to install an iPad Mini and use it with an AV out to my existing widescreen display in my car

I wouldn't be cutting vents - I think the iPad mini should be better fit?

Lol ok well you can't really make it fit without mucking up your dash. Plus once costs all come into play and also resale value just spend the $800 to get plug and play??? At least you know it all works out and looks clean save my friend...save

Dynavin is the way to go. Too much effort for the iPad & it's just not the same.

You can get an intravee ii with the apline box and just connect an ipad/ipod to it. THE BEST THING I DID TO MY CAR

that is so clean! nice! but My plan is a 7 inch screen, rip out the old head unit, amp it and maybe sub it (though subs are lame, heavy and suck juice from my engine) put the aircon into the top storage spot, 7inch screen fits easily in it and then put the mighty car mods knobs next to it, Maybe get a nice swivel action as well as as that is Freaking amazing! or do as the guy with the toyota have a headunit behind it, since my plan to update the head unit was only an asthetic thing that would be ruined by the tiny little stereo headunit instead of the massive one thats in it now

if that made sense 10+ points to Gryffindor

Pretty much as good as the Ipad cheap option may be the reason you bought a bmw was for quality finishes. imo as good as it may be its way to butcher for my liking and you are better off saving for the proper dynavin unit. Realistically your going to sell your car at some point. You can take the dynavin out and sell it for say 600. Better then chopping half your dash up and wiring like you stole the car for 200-300 its going to cost you and thanks if your successful . Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Nicks option is alot cleaner then the others i just dont think you can make it seem as clean in the E46.

Just realized that if I did this I would lose my volume controls on the steering wheel, anyone know a way around that? maybe a cheaper head unit that connects but for cheaper?
