Higher mileage M3
Thinking about getting an M3 but within price range all have over 100k miles or close to it. Would I be running into issues possibly??

Yes. If you can i would def buy it with a extended warranty of some sort. I purchased mine with around 90k a couple years ago. I've spent a small fortune in maintenace up to this point.

If the car has been taking care of and it has a lot of records to prove it then yes.

Anything over 100K+ is going to require the usual. Just remember most M3 parts are double regular non-m pricing. Good luck!

LOLOL I lol-ed. Then, I realized it was also in reference to his name, I lmao.
But, ya if there's a nice lengthy record of maintenance go for it. If there isn't, you might get lucky and it's been well taken care of. However, you might not get so lucky and start preparing yourself mentally to spend some good $$$. Hope you buy it. Enjoyable car. |

I just bought 137K mileage M3 SMG and am doing coolant kit change, Brake pad change, valve cover change, complete oil and tranny flush, and all filters, plugs and fuel pump. Well $1500 dolalrs in OEM and good quality parts. Well worth the spenditure.

I was in the same boat when i was lookng for an M3 (E46). Even after i purchased my car, I was still worried what will happen on my car. However, now i can say this with confident that the mileage is not the factor that we should be worried about. My 2006 M3 (smg) had 86k miles when i purchased it and now its got 95k in 6months but i haven't seen any small problems at all. I have been doing regular maintenance (including Inspection2 at 93k) though.
Don't worry too much!! |

If you're looking at one that has 100k, ask if the waterpump has been changed, also ask for proof of the Service Inspection II. Make sure the valve adjustment has been done. If it's an SMG, when you initially unlock the car you should hear the pump prime. If it takes longer than 10 seconds or sounds jacked up, walk away.

The only way I would buy ANY M3 is with all the service paper work, if there isn't a record....it wasn't done, it will save you all the headaches.
I bought mine with ~70k miles and spent ~$1.5k in doing all the preventative maintenance I could think of that the previous owner didnt do. When I bought the car it had new tires, brakes, rotors, clutch, guibo, tranny mounts, etc, a lot of the major non-DIY stuff (at least for me) was done. Just my two cents. It also took me 3 months to find the right car.

YOLO,
My ///M has 150k on the odometer...has been very well maintained throughout. If you can find an ///M that has been well maintained then it should be no problem but understand that you are getting a car with lots of mileage so there will be some wear and tear items to look into. Overall, I haven't had any major issues with my ///M and would do this again if I found one with high mileage but has been well maintained.

I bought mine with ~70K miles on it without a PPI, yet Inspection II was done within the last year at a reputable shop (with paperwork to prove it) so I was satisfied that the car should be fine. OP, as long as you can get a deal, there's no issue with getting a high mileage vehicle. Take the savings and catch up on maintenance. I've done $3K of maintenance on my M3 and I'm still ahead of what a lower mileage 2003 would have cost, and I have tons of brand new parts. |

If the car has all paper work for repairs and all inspections done, I don't see why not to get one over 100k miles.

100,000 miled vehicles are harder to finance...
Also check the maintenance that is THEE 100% most important thing.. then when you get it, have codes read and cleared and then do a hard reset of the full system (unplugged negative terminal for 5 hrs)
