More info on the Vortex Razor:

Any option for an added "hood" for further protection of the optics?
Quote:
In the EOTech they have a mirror that is mounted to the top/inside of the sight housing. Also, I believe that the actual sight housing (not the shroud) is plastic. In addition, I believe that on the EOTech the rear window is actually the hologram. So, they need a protective shroud around the sight housing to keep the precisely aligned optics from getting bumped and causing something to get knocked out of alignment.

With the UH-1 we have absolutely no optics/mirrors/holograms/etc. mounted to the top portion of the sight housing. Further, neither the front or rear window is the hologram. The hologram is actually contained in the base of the unit. You could completely remove the sight windows and the sight would continue to function (although it would no longer be waterproof). Because of the design, there is no need for an additional shroud around the sight. Actually, the top portion of the housing is the protective shroud.

The advantage to this is that your sight picture is much less obstructed, while at the same time allowing the sight to have a slimmer profile.

Leupold is apparently discontinuing their VX-6 line and introducing a VX-6 HD line. They already discontinued their 1-6x FireDot BDC, but they are still producing the CM-R2 reticle. Kinda curious to know if they'll come out with a new 1-6x. I read on Sniper's Hide that the prices are going up at least $300, so perhaps they're offering something to compete with the Vortex Razor HD Gen2...

Steiner is coming out with a LOT of new optics. I think a couple optics are Burris optics that have just been "Steinerized". Hopefully this includes Steiner glass. Steiner uses German glass from Schott AG, while Burris uses Japanese glass (not sure if from Light Optical or other).

Here's Steiner's P4Xi 1-4x. I assume it's a Steinerized Burris MTAC with a near-similar price point. Kind of a step backwards given how many places are developing 1-5x and 1-6x optics, but maybe it's going to be an even better option than the Burris while still not breaking the bank...

The Steiner M332 and M536. These are the ones that were obviously reformatted Burris optics.

Eagerly awaiting the CZ P10c. G19 killer, supposedly. Even fits most G19 holsters.

Not exactly SHOT Show related, but new nonetheless. FN announces partnership with Steve Fisher and Sentinel Concepts. This could get cool. Steve partnered with Trijicon and gave us the VCOG, MRO and AccuPower.

American Defense Mfg UIC9 Carbine.
I think we finally have a high quality pistol caliber AR that runs on Glock mags.

I literally just heard about this 15 minutes ago from my buddy who is on his way to SHOT.
In short,

This is even better than the 1-6x. The only problem is if the optic takes forever to come out. When Trijicon put out the VCOG, the scopes didn't hit the market for 6+months. The AccuPower 1-4x hit the market almost instantly. If the scope is the same quality as the AccuPower 1-4x, it's gonna be a winner.

The Hudson H9 looks promising. I like the premise of a striker-fired 1911, but it sort of begs the question of why it hasn't happened yet. Lots of positive reviews. Only question really is whether it will be more reliable than most 1911s in the long run.
