Usually an Auto will lose about .3 off the manual mark. But since your car is old it is probably more. I would guess that if the manual is 6.5 according to C & D, that your car is probably like 7 or 7.1, remember the shark may give u like 5-7 hp and torque, but the real gift is the raise of the rev limiter, but u can utilize that unless u get the Dinan Tranny Chip.

a stock manual 330 does 0-60 in low 6's, I've seen as low as 5.9, but don't know the exact times for sure since I lost my 330/325 BMW catalog

Stock 323/325 auto is 8.1 so 7.8 for a 328 wouldnt be to far off, since the 328 wasnt that much faster then the 323 when it was out unlike the distance between a 330 and 325. I am thinking 7.5-7.8 depending on the car.

a stock 328Ci/i in step does 0-60 in low 7's, mid 7's being the slowest

in my 328 5spd, I was averaging mid 6s 6.5-6.8. I couldn't imagine a step being more than a second slower than 5spd.

It is now at least

325i 0-60 7.1m 8.1step
330i 0-60 6.4m 7.0step

Now the 330 is closer because I think the extra power helps out an auto more then it does the manual.

'99 328 has a regular automatic. '00 has steptronic.

In the real world, a '99 auto 328 is high 7 seconds to 60 and can barely crack 16 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Steptronic may shave a few tenths off that on a good day.

10chi, how are you measuring your 0-60 times? Stopwatch? G-tech? Buttmeter?

u know the usual....counting out loud....counting trees that go by...running against an M3 side by side

j/k

I know it ain't as accurate but I just use a plain old track stopwatch. And I don't take just one run. I usually do about 4-5 runs to get a good feel.

And in my step (01) I was getting around 6.5-6.8 0-60. 5spd 328 I was getting closer to 6.4-6.7 Dunno with the 03 since I haven't really pushed it yet. And my 00 328 and 01 330 were not modded in any way. Just plain stock.

Is US-spec E46 328i somewhat more powerful than euro models? According to BMW, euro 328 (16" rims) does 0-100 km/h in 7.0s, whereas step is more than a sec slower. The other summer I managed 0-60mph in 7.29s with pretty good start (it was 30'C and the car was running 18") but sth like 6.5s seems too optimistic.

I Have the BMW catalog I got straight from the dealership, when I bought my car, with the official times posted by bmw for a 2000 328Ci/i, both hit 0-60 in 6.5 seconds if they are both manual..... Can someone go faster than that, sure, can someone go slower, sure, it all depends on the driver. But 6.5 is the number posted by BMW. by the way, 100 KPH does not equal 60 MPH, 100KMP = 62 MPH

Does the catalog list the auto times too?
