Review: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists, Madison Heights, MI

Hey Everyone,
I've had small curb rashes in two of my CSL wheels since I bought my M3. I've been wanting to get these repaired for some time now and finally made the investment. I chose Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists of Madison Heights, Michigan. Their website is: http://www.awrsm.com/.

I'm extremely pleased with the work they've done, and their customer service. I called to speak with them and they answered all my phone calls and emails promptly. They even made an appointment for me during the busy 4th of July holiday time.

The wheel repairs exceeded my expectations. Both wheels were repaired by blending in the paint with the paint in the surrounding 5-6 inches of wheel, and the paint is a perfect color match. I honestly could not tell where the damage was to my wheels after the repair. The only way I knew where the damage was to the wheels was because there was damage to the tire at the same stop. I've attached some before and after pictures for everyone to see.

Overall I'm very happy with my service and would highly recommend AWRSM to anyone in the area.

They quote from $110 to $130 per wheel, typically.

Hmm, that's a bit more than I was expecting for a small repair. I had my ZHP wheels completely refinished by Detroit Vintage Wheels in Royal Oak and they did it for $150 per wheel. (Initially I was quoted $200 per wheel but that price is for if you wanted to ship and have them shipped back.)

For that price the wheels were media blasted to bare alloy, welded to fill some deep gouges on the spokes and then powder coated. I'll post some pics later when I get a chance to take some but I was quite happy with the job they did.

I should mention that the price quoted is for the entire wheel, irrespective of whether it's a small or large damage. They will fix all the problems on the wheel, not just what you point out. They pretty much sand the wheel down in 5-6 inches in all directions from the damage/blemish, then when they repaint they "blend" the paint in from all directions so it looks smooth/clean/flush and not like a repaint. I was happy with their work and it's just another option.

Gotcha
