For ever. A well maintained inline 6 is practically indestructible.

Well... As soon as i got the car i started doing all the maintenance that it needed. When i pulled the VC i was amazed at how much crap was under there... I litterly took a paint scraper and scraped it off in to a trash can.... Then i blew it out with an air gun and hit it with a brush and some sea foam.... I then let it idle with a bit of sea foam in the oil after changing the VCG. Changed the oil and had no oil pressure must of clogged the screen with all the gunk... Reved it lightly a few times... pressure came back. Drove it around for about 1k and changed out just the filter. So far so good. Looks like its cleaning up nicely.

Ouch. Mine still runs nicely. Actually quieter before i started cleaning it. Little bit of a lifter tap now.

295k checking in... there are other high mileage threads on e46f.
ZChild is north of 300k with the highest mileage I have seen on here.
I think I may be in second for highest mileage, but not sure.

No sludge whatsoever.

Looking forward to matching some of these numbers...i'm at 105k right now, about to do VCG, kinda scared of what I'll see...but it was purchased at 92k, and passed Carmax inspection so I'm optimistic.

Klaudia hit 175k a couple weeks ago. Bought her at 82k. Had the valve cover off to do vanos around 130k and it was clean as a whistle! I think the electronics, not the engine, will be the death of my car.

When I bought my car it had 185k on it, I have done all the maintenance on it myself; many thanks to all those who have posted DIY's.
I've probably saved thousands of dollars by doing all work for myself, but I still have much work to do before I'll be satisfied.

Here's a small list of things I've done:
1. Cooling system
2. Tune up
3. Changed fluid in Trans(manual) and diff
4. New Control arms and Bushings
5. Front Struts
6. Rear Shocks
7. Tune up(plugs, fuel filter, air filter
8. Junk yard air box, PO had removed it and the maf in favor of a CIA system
9. New Maf and upper and lower boots
10. Rear subframe repair
11. Repaired wiring harness at exhaust CPS
12. Replaced Radiator support
13. Replaced front bumper carrier and shocks
14. New Brakes and hardware

Next is to tackle the Rear bushings, then 4 wheel align, and thinking about rebuilding the engine and trans. The last thing will be fresh paint...
Love this car, it's so fun to drive compared to a front drive. Another thing I like about it is everything is put together logically and even working on hard to reach areas isn't too bad.
