Have a whirring noise in engine bay
sounds loudest to me near OFHG or right below, I have vid of it but how do i upload video to post? I tried to attach says invalid format.

Here is the vid at 14 second mark it stops. I have checked to make sure fan wasn't rubbing, have changed all pulleys and converted to hydraulic tensioner and have done complete cooling refresh ( except fan and clutch thinking of replacing with electric fan)
Anyone experienced this noise and have an idea what it is?

It sounds a *little* like a fuel injector solenoid ticking. It also sounds a like a bad DISA unit. These sounds however, usually don't just go away by themselves. It is difficult from the video to really tell where the noise is coming from.
Other possibilities - bad pulley, bad pump... Any codes being thrown? If you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from with more accuracy (use a mechanics stethoscope or an arms length of garden hose held up to your ear) , there might be more help that we can give you. |

Kind of sounds like Vanos rattle to me.

My 00 328i sounds identical. Thinking I might have cracked one of those brittle hoses when replacing my ofhg. Any luck with yours op?
