Bench numbers are like salary. I was assume the #s are inflated at least 10%.

robbing with a sword is a good thing

By ensuring the bar lightly touches my chest instead of ending rep about an inch above it took about 30 lbs off my bench press... So yeah I think a lot of people aren't using proper form and padding numbers because of that.

Pretty humbling and took me awhile to accept doing it properly

Possibly, but most of the more experienced regulars here have video or picture proof (..and we're generally the only people here who post up big numbers), sooooo.........!????! I guess I don't know who you're referring to exactly.

Crappy video of me putting up 200lbs in my creepy basement gym from a couple years ago. I've made some progress since then.

I hit 225 today 5 times. My spotter said he didn't help at all but I think he helped a real little on the last one.

i was in power lifting in high school and only count major lifts according to regulation form (bench: the bar touches the chest, rests for a second and is pressed up on a level plane while legs stay firmly planted on the ground without movement)

I weigh 160lbs and am at 155lbs now. I've been lifting off an on for the past several years, but have started lifting regularly again about two months ago. I'm pretty happy with the results so far.

Thanks! It definitely helps having a buddy to work out with, but I've altered my diet quite a bit and have been very pleased with the results thus far.

Thats about where I'm at I think. I could probably get 7-8 if I were fresh.

I have no clue, probably not that much at this point. Can't remember the last time I tried to max bench. I really don't have anyone to impress nor do I care to.

I have those too but I never use them because I bench down to my chest. Do you guys keep them a little higher?

My rack happens to have the perfect spacing. I can set the pins at a height where I can touch my chest when I have my arch going but if I "deflate" the bar will rest on the pins.

Oh nice. I should check that out. I usually only bench when people are spotting me anyway.

I honestly cant remember the last time I had a spot on the bench. My safeties don't fail, spotters frequently **** things up....

Mine are pretty good. I tell them exactly what I want and they do it pretty well. I really think having a spotter and aiding myself on some more reps has helped me get stronger where the safety bars would just save me. I think I'm going to start always going to more reps and having my guys spot me on a lot more things.
