I've been to that particular dealer in Zetland. I Wasn't even approached by anyone despite looking at cars for a long time. Unfortunately salespeople at luxury car dealers have just one stereotypical customer in their eyes: Mature (40+) and cashed up.
However people have bad experiences everywhere and just because you are a car enthusiast, don't expect the salesperson to reciprocate that knowledge. They're usually just their to regurgitate technical details from the sales brochure. Respect to the dealer principal for apologising, although I doubt he personally wrote it as I am sure dealer principal isn't on facebook all day.. |

I understand they wouldnt have given me info that I didnt know, but at least tell me exactly what that particular car has on it. Yeah I think its a step in the right direction that the dealer principal wrote up a response saying that they have a lot of room for improvement, but I guess he kind of had to. The pathetic thing is that the GM or sales manager in my story has looked me up on linkedin yet nothing from him and he was the directly responsible person for these people. ps wheres the like errol? too cool?

They are indeed! Every time I get in it i learn something new about it. Such a great daily!! (6mt btw)
In the spirit of ruining all Audi dealers reputation.. can you recommend any independent Audi specialists in Sydney for a 60k service? |

I am here every day, reading posts. I spend more time in General off topic annoying the yanks I am very unpoular there with a few of the hard core gun nuts. It's fun.The machines are expected for delivery February. Delays in manufacturing. Much modification and huge improvements over original prototype but will well be worth the wait (if I don't go broke first)

Very, very sweet. What are your thoughts on the latest model. Performance I am pretty sure is improved, but overall would you recommend them?

Very wealthy friend of mine years ago, when we were both in our 20's, went into a boat dealer with $80,000 in cash on his person to buy a fancy speedboat. They did not take him seriously and he left with the money still in his pocket. (money was legit by the way).

One thing that aggravates me about these sales people aside from qualifying a buyer by looks is even after a sale, as sure as ****, they will continue to waste your time - I guess it makes their day go faster. |

Good read.
I have to say, spoke with several BMW dealers before I was even seriously considering buying one, and they all treated me professionally and as I would expect to be treated when parting with a large sum of money. Perhaps part of BMW sales training is not expecting all of your buyers to fit the over 40 stereotype.

I hear what you are all saying but I would like to give you an ex sales persons perspective. When was 24 years old I worked as a sales person for BMW Australia. As such I can tell you first hand the last thing you want to do is waste time. Given you were paid a bonus for each car you sold, the object of the game is to sell as many as possible in a day and I used to average 15 cars a month. We used to work 21 days straight and then we would have 3 days off.we would be so busy on weekends that it was a rarity to have 2 mins to scoff down a sandwich for lunch. When it is a busy day such as a saturday or a sunday the plan was to speak to as many people as possible and qualify if they intended to buy a car that day or if they were just beginning their inquires. There is a couple of reason for this. Firstly the aim is to sell as many cars as possible whilst still speaking to as many people as possible so your sales funnel was continuing to be replenished with new leads. The problem is that most people want to look at cars on a weekend both buyers potential buyers and time wasters. Oh and we used to get plenty of them. We used to get bus loads of people turn up who were on a "motivational excursion" Goal setting ect, who would quite happy waste your time and think nothing of it.
So on weekends your job is to weed out those who are prepared to buy a car that day whilst supplying enough information to satisfy potential buyers with out appearing disinterested, and not wasting time with the time wasters. Let me tell you, its not an easy Job. A very high percentage of people go into a dealership with an attitude that the sales person sole objective is to rip them off and they often treat you with disrespect. (let me assure thats the wrong way to go about buying a car) It is always the sales managers call and the final sale price and if you get along with the sales person they will generally try to make the deal happen and as I mentioned the sales people get a commission and the number of cars they sell not so much the actual profit margin. The difference in to them in commission for selling a car with $3000 profit in it as opposed to $1000 profit is less than $200. They just want to make the sale. It was also not that uncommon to spend hours and hours helping someone find the right car and they they would just use you to price shop all over sydney and then buy a car from some other sales person at another dealership for $500 less than you had quoted them despite them promising to give you the last opportunity to do the deal. So your best bet is to do your test driving and discovery research during the week so you get the full attention of the sales person. But having said all that. I personally was very diligent in following up any promises and or people I had met. Sounds like you had a bad run of bad sales people Sherwin. But you ended up with a much better car anyway.

Wow Seldo, your post is almost as long as mine mate! I work in a sales related role so I am familiar with how it generally works. I didn't come off too keen but didn't kiss ass either sotheu knew I was serious but they need to show me the product first and that's not too much of an ask!
