Feels slow now.

After owning my M for 3 weeks, now it feels slower. I know its in my head but it feels weird, I went from my 330 and this felt like a rocket for a couple of weeks. I guess I need a Bugatti now. LOL.

Hmm, mine doesn't feel as batshit crazy as it did when I bought it a couple years ago (also came from a 330), but I can't say the car feels slow to me. My old car felt slow after a month of owning it

If you don't get excited driving an m3 you :

1. Aren't pushing the car
2. Something wrong with your engine
3. Something wrong with you

In that order and yes, that it's a definitive list.

OP, if you have SMG, try out launch control then let us know if it's still slow to you.

The engine can be a little lethargic below 3K or even 4K, but revving hard above that, it's entirely a different thing. Driving leisurely from a stop at traffic light, it does feel like a Civic

Edit:

Even though the E46 M is 12 yr old, there really not too many car that is faster, unless you're willing to spend quite a bit more. The 370Z/Genesis couple are about the same straight line wise, but I am not sure they are faster around the track. For around $35K, a couple of cars come to mind that are decidedly faster are the Mustang GT or Camaro but they are entirely different thing. Other than that, for around $35K, I can't really think of anything that are faster than the M.
If you're willing to spend more, there are the E92 M3 or Cayman S but they cost quite a bit more, and if you think the E46 costs a lot to maintain, these two might cost even more.

This is all very natural. Best way to fix the issue is to rent something else for the week end and then come back to it. You will immediately be reminded of how wonderful it is. Or... start with Saad Racing stg 2 and when that gets tiresome move up to stg 3. After that you need a different car.

lol yea same with me came from 330 to m3. With a manual doesnt feel very special below 4k rpms. I bought a 2nd car for winter recently and didnt drive the m for couple of days, then today drove the m3 and it felt like a real car. So tight and steering is so much better. Took it for a wash and now it will stay in the garage for the winter.

That's natural, my car felt kind of slower even after installing the ESS 450 kit. I guess you get used to it but I still get a kick out of giving people a ride and seeing their reactions

I had the same experience after I had owned my M3 for a couple of years. I went to a friend of mine, who is a mechanic, and told him that the car seemed slower than before. He drove it (I was the passenger), and after a couple of burnouts and a high-speed run he confirmed that the car was just fine. He tossed me the keys to a non-M e46 3 series and told me to drive it and see what I thought. It felt like a dog. It's all relative, and you do get enured to the power and performance.

This. Getting out to a track will be pretty eye opening in terms of the car's potential. What a machine.

Drive an Eco friendly car, then get back in yours and you'll feel like your driving a Veyron.

Yep, My 328 felt like a sponge after driving the M3 several days. I'm used the 328 again because it has been raining in NorCal for the last 4 days and I don't drive the M3 in the rain. Monday back in the M3 for the day before the next round of rain. OP needs a slower car for relative comparisons.

I don't get why people keep opening threads comparing the 330 feel/performance to the M3's. It just doesn't make sense... the M3 is WAY better in EVERY way.

If you can read, which I'm sure you can being you have the sarcasm thing under you belt, you might realize this thread was not started to compare th m3 to the 330. So save the comments unless you have something productive to add.
