accessory power
Hi guys, I need to install a small device on my car (dash cam to be exact). I don't want it hooked up via the cigarette lighter so I bought a extra cable for it which allows it to be always on which detects knocks/movements.
Anyway... wondering, as I have 3 cables on this thing, red/black/yellow obviously being pos/neg/earth, I need to connect them to some other cables running through the car, just wondering which though? Has to always have power from the battery running through it when the cars not running. Ta!

You could patch right into the fusebox. I wired up an SSD in my glove box and patched right in. Probably the cleanest way to handle it ;-)

Similar to what I did. Should at least point you in the right direction.

I'd go straight into the car stereo. Because I'm lazy. The Red Black and yellow will already be there assuming you have dynavin/aftermarket HU. If not, there should be a wiring diagram somewhere showing the different wires.

No worries, which dash-cam did you get?
For future reference, the yellow cable is a cable that goes to the battery, so constant power, not earth. The black is neg/earth. Might pay to test the power being sucked from the yellow cable(the one that will make the dash-cam be on constantly. I just don't want you stranded with a flat battery. If the instructions say it's all good to go then I guess you should be sweet. |

Yea I know black is earth, i just didnt write it up in order!
I bought the Itronics 100-HD, just being testing it, its actually pretty damn good, got it working in park mode also, still have to read up how much power it drains, but in the meantime, ill just unplug it when i park over night.
