Wide Angle Help.

yip yaaap, I need some insight on a wideangle for my 7D... I said I was going to pick the 16-35L up this week, but the guy bying my bike isin't showing up until today - so now I should decied on what lens I want.

on my list I have: Canon 16-35 f/2.8 // Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 // Canon 10-22 // Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 or even the Canon 17-40 f/4.

will be used for Landscape 75% of the time - I'm just stuck on what I should do, big reason I am selling my bike is so I can get some nice glass, so dropping the 1500 on the Canon 16-35 is NBD to me, I just want the reassurance that its the right lens... cause I could pick up the Tamaron & Sigma for the same price.

and there is no doubt that I will go FF sometime down the road, so even the investment of the 16-35 right now would pay off down the road.

16-35 if you plan on going full frame

If you're oging full frame, Canon 16-35L, no question. If you can afford it, that is. If not, get the 17-40. I wish I had known at the time that the 10-22 was for cropped sensors only...

I wouldn't pay the premium for the 16-35L if you're shooting primarily landscapes. You're paying a huge premium for the extra stop (f/2.8) vs. the 17-40L. The 17-40L is a *very* sharp lens, and for landscapes, you'll most likely be stopping down to f/8-f/16 anyway. Also a FF lens.

If you're going full frame and using this primarily for landscape, get the 17-40L. It's a no brainer to save 50% for one stop and that doesn't matter on a tripod at f/8. Spend the extra on another lens or just save it.

II, I never did ask what they had in stock on the phone. if it was the I or II... I just assumed it was the II ?

I had the Tokina 11-16 and it is FANTASTIC if you use it enough to justify the price and short range.

I sold it and bought the Canon 15-85mm IS USM as my walk around and I really like it A LOT.

For someone who seem to always leave the 11-16 at home, the 15mm the Canon has fits the bill when I have to have that wide.

Stuck between a sigma 10mm 2.8 and the sigma 15mm 2.8... I have the 16-35 2.8L and I want something with more of a fisheye effect. I am leaning towards the 15mm right now, down the road it can be used on a FF, the 10mm cant. I also looked into the canon 10-22, but I just wasn't feeling the lens sample images (its also crop only). I know a few people rock canon 10-22's on here but anyone have thoughts on the sigma 15mm?

with the 5Dii @ 1799 right now, I might just bite the bullet and pick up a fisheye and the 5D.... I paid more for my 7D 2 or so years ago then what the 5D is @ right now. jeeesh.

If you're going FF get the lens that will work with it. 10 is fvcking wide on a crop sensor so 15 should be plenty wide on ff.

Anyone try the tokina 11-16 2.8??
