Sounds like a 2004 330Ci would be perfect for you.

Just a little advice: You have specified that the car have no more than 90,000 miles. The 90,000 mile marker is a big interval for an inspection I. If you get find a car that is approaching or at the 90k mark, make sure that it's already had everything necessary done to it, otherwise you're going to have to do some work on it pretty quickly to stay on top of the maintenance.

Another thing to keep in mind... once cars hit the 100k mile mark, their value drops SIGNIFICANTLY. Your budget of $16k is really more than enough... You'll have some left over for maintenance, taxes, or mods.

Have you checked out autotrader, craigslist, and ebay?

this one is a 5 speed non sport pack, but its also low miles, low price, and in good condition. With the money you saved you could modify it to be however you like.

5 speed, again. But has sport pack wheels and seats.

You won't get a 6 speed unless you get a 2004+. And a little feedback from owning a 6 speed 330Ci for 2 years..... 6th is like useless. The final drive ratio of a ZSP 330Ci is 2.93! 6th gear ends up being extremely tall. I actually got better millage in 5th gear over light hills and in light traffic than I did in 6th.

Now I have a M3 with a 4.10 diff... 6th is like my old 4th

Yeah I have a few Autotrader searches saved. I use eBay Motors as well, but it has little to nothing on it. I check Craigslist here and there, but I figure any pristine car that is on Craigslist will also be on Autotrader or a forum like this one. Know what I mean?

I know the 6th gear is nothing special. However, I just got out of a 5-speed E36 M3 sedan, and so I really want that extra gear. I want the extra slot; the extra row while driving . I'd rather buy a different brand/model just to have the extra gear. It's a main reason of the purchase in the first place.

From what I found, 6-speeds came in 2003. Did they come in 2003, but get labeled as model year 2004?

Nice on the M3 haha. I be that thing whiiiips!!

I appreciate you helping me search!

I know my 2004 330Ci had a 6. I don't actually know the specifics about which cars had 5's or 6's, or when the change over happened. I know the sedan got a facelift in like 2002. The wikipedia says that all Coupes from 03/2003 had a 6 speed.

You're being ridiculous and will be looking for a long time... if not forever. There seems to always be a something you don't like... it has one mod too many, oh I wanted one with 2 thousand less miles, I was looking for one with no more than 3.5 rock chips @ 1mm each on the hood...

I don't need a car until the summer, so I have time. I previously drove a silver E36 M3 5-speed with wood trim, but without fold-down seats. I got the car at 95,000 miles and solid it at around 125,000 miles. Now I want to upgrade and change things up: 6 gears, fold-down seats, non-wood trim, attractive color combination. Picky, yeah... but not getting what I want is not only a bummer, but a bad financial decision.

I have a 2002 330i 5spd sport and premium package with fold down seats. Black sapphire on black leather, I am the second owner and its in pristine shape. 60k miles. Also has rare sedan aluminum trim. No mods except newer OEM CD player and aux in, along with a home link and compass mirror from a 2008 X5.

It's worth noting that it's not impossible to change the trim after you have the car. I don't think its worth passing on a perfect car because it has wood trim. All cars with premium package had wood, and the wood took precedence over the silver from the sport package. So it's something that alot of us are just dealing with or modifying afterwards.

Yeah I'm cool with wood trim. I really just want a sedan with ZSP (or ZHP) and fold-downs. I'll take a coupe, but sedans are just the best...

(It's easier to swap the trim on sedans too )
