V8 Race day. Were my expectations high?

Can you guys comment on this if you have been to one of the V8 race days?

I went to one on Saturday, and it was... Pretty boring. I have driven my car around a racetrack at Winton several times, and I had a hell of a lot more fun there, for a lot less.

Anybody care to tell me I was expecting too much?
All I wanted to do really was flog the crap out of a Holden V8 and slam the brakes on at the corners. They only let me use 2 gears 3/4 and told me to brake super early, so I had no G-force exerted on me at all.

I get all the safety and all, but I was by no means at the limits of the car, and was being told to drive safer. No, I'm not a terrible driver, and always had control of the car.

Cheers.

Yes agree 100%

Was given 6 laps @ winton for Xmas last year.

The car I had I doubt was an ex race car - yes it was stripped out, had a cage & go fast decals but the engine had no grunt and suspect it had a limiter. 3/4 gears as well.

3 hour drive up/back to winton just made the experience worse haha

Birthday present this year I received 2 passenger tickets for 6 laps @ Sandown - that was a way better experience and the driver was working it

I did 3 furious laps as a passenger around Oran park in a Ford V8 (forget who was driving but it was someone legit). He was hiting apex's and was trying to get the back end out through some of the corners...I didn't know whether to yell with excitment or scream with horror.

Iv done one of these, the car was great, totally stripped, cage and H pattern manual box, fast but certainly didn't blow me away, the breaking and cornering/traction certainly did though, used all gears upto 4, you wouldnt really get more out of it on the straight... was a VZ. 8 laps of me driving was good fun, didnt blow me away though certainly wouldn't race out and buy a 6.0l commy rofl.

I did it with Fastrack at Calder, and yeah, they were stripped out but I was expecting the, get thrown back into the seat speed. I was a bit bummed that I didnt pay for the hot laps, I had a choice, I had a 10 lap thing. Either 6 drive/3 ride or 10 drive.
