You continue to push your theory which, in your own words, doesn't make sense.

Where are the TRW parts? Did the ZF catalogue make them up for fun?

Or could RealOEM... be... wrong?! Or incomplete?!?!

Next you're going to tell me Santa Claus isn't real!

The TRW parts or slowered gear 678 zf racks (purple tag) were for pre 9/01 build date 330s/E46s AS WELL as post 9/01 (all) 325s. I already researched this heavily one night. you can check out my part# research in the other thread.

Santa isn't real! Since When?!?!

And wasn't it an option for a customer to get the overboosted steering put on their car if they complained that it was too heavy? I seem to remember that was something that could happen, seems like that would explain the existence of MY02's without 712's without anyone being wrong...

That was for older 330s. I can probably research the specifics but I think a pump change was in order for 9/01 cars as well. If you have a MY02 330, you're fine. If you have a 9/01+ 330, you're fine.

Op...any update?

Mango...I remember when realoem used to list the old PNs but now they just list the newer part number
(Superceded #). The old part numbers.doesn't even show up anymore

We need to.find an electronic part catalogue from 2003-2005 and check the part number

So maybe Zhp and 330 had different part number but then they were superceded by the zhp one. As a result every late model 330 now carries the zhp rack

sent from my dahc-6900 using Bimmer App

Sorry for the late reply guys, I've been working a lot. I got under the car to see if I could find the infamous yellow or whatever color the tag could be, but I didn't see any tag on the rack & pinion..maybe it fell off ? But I do have a possible part number so that might help us get to the bottom of this. I did this right after work today so i'm a bit too tired to research this park number, lol. I'll leave you guys with that --->> 'Bmw 6 757 338'

The one ad says that rack is made by TRW.

take a picture of it. it might be the 3rd rack that we can't find any pictures of but rich talked about. i'd have to look at my thread to see what it's called but he said it was unlabeled.

no. not only the zhps had that rack. a lot of 330s came with it.

All ZHPs have the 712 rack. 330s came with several different racks. Even if your 330 was manufactured after 09/01 it may not come with a 712 rack. It also may come with one.

UDM may not have a 712 rack. I don't know how you made that conclusion- it is totally without merit. We established that realOEM did not appear to be showing the whole story when it came to which production dates came with which rack.

The only car that is guaranteed to come with the 712 is the ZHP. I thought everyone agreed on that in the last thread.

Get your facts straight and your panties out of a bunch.

If the tag fell off, where are you getting your "possible" part number?

Maybe your rack was replaced at some point:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-BMW-325...-/310395173002

This rack matching your part # came off a 325i.

This site also shows it belongs to a 325i M56:

looks like all results so far have that part number off a 325 and not a 330.
guess will will have to wait for the OP photos. but if infact he provides photos that his is this part#, it likely has been retrofitted from a 325
