Looking for a diagnostic scanner...

Looking to purchase a diagnostic scanner for my E46.. I saw some that go for $650.. Then I see some on eBay that look exactly the same and they do the same for $30... Should I got for the cheaper one? Or one more expensive? Any takers??

You've got to search at least once before you post a thread.
This is a recent thread which has all your answers and it is still in the first 5 threads.

I'd stay away from the cheap Chinese knock offs of good scanners. Or you'll end up with something you can't use. I just bought a code reader interface from resettools.com and it does not work. Their site looks professional but the tool is crap. Waste of $77.
