Noise in engine when cold

Hello fellow fanatics!. This is my first post. 2005 320d
I have a ticking noise lefthand side of engine when engine is cold. Noise gone when arriving at work or back home. Almost sounds like a noisy lifter. Any idea or advise, please!

Howzit! Mine is a diesel. Changed engine oil and filter. Bought at BM. Oil at BM cheaper than at MIDAS. Seemed better after. Still noisy in morning at first start up. Much better when getting to work. What does yours sound like?
