White smoke comes out when starting car
There seems to be white smoke that comes out in a burst whenever I start my car in the morning. After I drive around for a while and park/shut off my car. There's a burnt smell coming from my exhaust. What's going on?

Check your coolant level/color first and foremost. It's super quick/simple and will answer a couple questions. There are multiple scenarios which could be causing this. (Could be related with your valve stems, headgasket, etc.), but I wouldn't get too worried yet. Is the smoke white or does it have a blue tint to it? Could be worn piston rings. So two things first: check coolant color/level and try to determine hue of the smoke.

Assuming the smoke is light blue in color id think your valve seals are shot. However it could just be condensation, it is getting cold out.

its getting cold out so probably just some steam. we always get questions like how to change time twice a year and smoke from the exhaust when winter hits here.

It could be that you are burning rich meaning that your oil is mixing and burning

Just tried it again this morning at 53 degree F. It's WHITE smoke coming out in a burst when I start the car.
When I gun the pedal and it hits around 55-60, white smoke comes out of the exhaust in a burst.

I'd start with a full tank of gas with Techron added first and a nice long drive of maybe an hour or so...and check fluids beforehand...and have extra with you...just in case.
It could be just water vapor because you don't drive enough...though that extra burst at speed could be head issue, ccv, seals too. If you just got this car, then head/seals issue maybe is a little higher odds...but if you've had the car a while and this is the first of these symptoms...and you haven't overheated the car...then probably ccv...there's a chance the long drive will fix you up.

white oil burst sounds alot like oil. can be worned out rings or valve stem seals or even valve guides. smell it if it smells like oil. if its condensation it wont smell like oil obviously.

Could also be a leaky head gasket. I hope not for your sake, but it could be. Check your oil and coolant levels - see if you are losing fluid. Check the condition of your oil and coolant - if you have oil in your coolant, or coolant in your oil. Any of these conditions point to a leaky head gasket.

I have same problem thinking of having the valve stem seals changed. Anyone know of a cost to do it roughly?
