Where I take issue is with the pedestrian safety requirements forcing all bmw's to have that ugly blunt nose. Audi's it isn't so noticeable since they have that giant grille.
I'd say it's pretty obvious with the new facelift

Brah.
So, you are saying a mainstream, well advertised brand that is making and spending money that we pay for cars, does business in the USA actually had the balls to go against the EPA and CAFE standards... And they are still doing business and making money? Wow... And that company is Mercedes? The ones that own a "low production" manufacturing group called AMG?

K. Tell me how many engines AMG makes per year? Regardless of the place they go, how many gas guzzling, greenhouse gas emitting, poluting, polar ice cap melting, global warming certified engines do they make?

Give up?

18,000 plus, and those numbers are old.

In contrast, BMW sold 16,967 ///M cars in 2010, making them more exclusive and lower volume.

You know that is not an Aston Martin right?

Looks like a Toyota IQ with a facelift. Aston is not "making" that, they are badging it.

Engine design is being shaped by strict emission and economy standards set by both the United States and European Union.

BTW did I mention the Samsung Galaxy SIII > iPhone 5?

Exactly. The engine design is being shaped, and the small manufacturer that is AMG sells more engines than the ///M division, that is turning the skunkworks at BMW into a ///Mockery.

Eh, I still think there's a much better flow to the audi nose, it has a nice even taper, where the bmw's look to have a bulge infront of the actual bumper beam.

Although upon looking at the two further, I think it's the change in the taper of the hood infront of the wheels that's really making it awkward for me.

They put their panels on it and sell it as their own, either way it's an ugly car sold by Aston Martin.

I have to agree. The F nose is awkward.

Incorrect, and here's why:

The old law required each auto manufacturer to have the same fleet average fuel economy regardless of the size or type of vehicle being produced (Porsche = BMW = Ford = Hyundai = Toyota). This really hurt manufacturers like Chevy and Ford, who sold many large SUVs and trucks. Those cars hurt their average since they had worse fuel economy (as a result of their size) and they sold more of them. They support the new law because it takes into consideration vehicle size and sales volume. In short, the new law helps them because it is more fair. Large vehicles have a lower target MPG than smaller vehicles.

They can't circumvent these regulations. These regulations are to many manufacturers benefit. Ones opposed to the regulation would be small car manufacturers who had a very easy time meeting the overall average with their cars.

That is prefacelift, which looks far better than the facelift. I do think the prefacelift is much sharper than the F30. The facelift B8 is starting to look awkward and bulged.

Tomato, tomahto. You say fair- I say more lax. Not to mention the CAFE exemption credits. And yes, it helps them, which is why they backed it. More along with what I originally said.

Further quotes explaining why I think the automakers backed the newer proposal:

Quote:
Currently CAFE penalty is $55 USD per vehicle for every 1 mpg under the standard. For the year 2006 Mercedes-Benz draw $30.3 million penalty for violating fuel economy standards.[88] That equates to $122 per one sold vehicle (in 2006 Mercedes-Benz sales were 248,080 vehicles) [89] A penalty of $122 means violating CAFE by 2.22 MPG ($122 divided by $55). According to the government "fueleconomy.gov" website violating CAFE by 2.42 MPG means consuming extra 27 barrels (4.3 m3) (1,134 US gallons (4,290 L)) of mostly imported fuel in 10 years which is worth $3,490 (Based on 45% highway, 55% city driving, 15,000 annual miles and a fuel price of $2.95 per gallon) that is 13.4% more and also it means emitting extra 14 Tons of CO2 in 10 years that is 12.7% more.
Quote:
CAFE penalty have increased only 10% since 1983.[87] At the same time cumulative inflation from 1983 to 2010 was 119.2%. It means that CAFE penalty in 2010 is actually less than half of what it was in 1983.

I have bought an Audi since owning my BMW, and i'd do it again in a heartbeat. To me Audi makes the same quality of cars (in some cases better quality), and in Australia they are slightly cheaper.

This thread has nothing to do with Android vs Apple politics.
