Question Should my car honk and headlight flash when I remote lock it?

The title says it all... I curently drive a 2001 BMW 323i, my previous car was a 2006 Jetta TDI, when I would lock it using with the remote, the headlight would flash briefly and the honk would sound, but my BMW does nothing, I just hear the "click" of the door locking and the interior light fading but that's it... Is it all normal?

You can have it programmed to flash. I'm not sure if you can program it to honk. With the factory alarm it beeps.

Yes, this is normal. The headlight flash can be added by a dealer (or software) if your car came prewired for an alarm.

Search for the $5 alarm beep.

Yep that is normal.

if you have or get an alarm you can get the alarm programmed to "chirp" with remote and also the signals "flash". pretty sure horn is not listed as an option and not sure about headlamps. don't think so though as if the car had xenons it would be bad for them to flash.
you don't have to have the alarm to program the "clown nose" (led on interior mirror) to blink or the signals to blink.

I said "headlight" on the first post but what I meant was the position (miror, turning, etc) and tail lights. In fact I don't want my car to "notify" when I lock it, I was just wondering if everything was normal.
