Airbag Light/ BST Issue

I have an 02 330i. My airbag light came on. I hooked up my BMW scanner to reset it and it says that the battery safety terminal 1, resistance low. What exactly does this mean and how can I fix this.

If there is a low or high resistance that means the wire has an issue. I had a high warning for a door airbag so I used CRC electrical parts cleaner on the connector and it's been fine since. I'm not sure about spraying down that wire though.

Is it normal for the airbag light to go on when the BST stops working

I was getting a "Resistance too high" error on mine. Yes, it triggers the airbag light. My solution was to use PA Soft to configure the SRS module so that BST1 was turned off and then disconnected the trigger wires on the BST. No more light. My BST was never activated so the cable/terminal was intact.

I have read the BST is wicked expensive (like $500) and difficult to replace.

Yes I head that too, I had the "Battery Safety Terminal 2 Resistance too high" error, I just turned BST2 off in the equipment coding area of PA Soft, I didn't disconnect anything, the light went off and the car starts, Anyone know what the consequences of this might be ?

Thanks

Dunno. Might not work properly in an accident? Isn't it designed to disconnect the positive battery lead in certain types of accidents?

Yes. A small pyro charge in the terminal detonates in the event of an accident. It will push the cable out from the terminal. There's a collar that will keep the cable from sliding back in.
