Aircraft time you between mile markers to figure out your speed. There used to be mile markings on the pavement on Ocean Parkway that was used for a huge bust last year IIRC.

The NSP ends at Veterans Highway, just west of Hauppauge, which by interesting coincidence is also where the Suffolk County 4th Precinct is located. Lawyer up dude, what the lawyer usually does in these cases. Is find another court case close to yours where the other defendant had the same ticket or close to and got off with a smaller sentecne. That's pretty much what traffic lawyers to. To my knowledge and experience. So highly recommend at least get u off with some fines. But at least u will have it liscenses. Gl OP

Luckily i got a court date in april , Suffolk county is closing the tvb court and they are opening a new court in april that will plea bargain.

They use VASCAR. You take a distance and start the time when the first point is crossed, and stop it at the second point. Based on the time, you can calculate average speed. Fairly easy and admissible in court.

Yup, got it. For some reason I kept on thinking they used radar(till now). It was almost 3 years ago when it happened. Never thought about it, was overjoyed for being able to make it to the wedding without getting arrested or getting my license suspended.
After that incident I leave early or arrive late for an event. No more stupid speeding.

OP, doesnt matter if there was no one in the car, on the road. You still would have destroyed a lot if you have crashed(personal and property wise). Lawyer up dude.

Flaunting the law and believing it doesn't apply to you is immature, and that's the attitude you're exhibiting by doing more than twice the speed limit.

Wow, your car drove itself with “nobody” in your car? And how did the cop catch you if he wasn’t on the road, too? Perhaps “immature” is not as descriptive a word as “stupid” to describe what you did.

The NSP and SSP were originally designed to discourage high-speed travel, as well as to prevent buses and other mass transit vehicles from coming out from NYC. Very easy to slam into bridges, trees, and other cars at close to normal speeds, and one imbecile traveling slow in the left lane on purpose will end your trip pretty quick. While you might deserve to be accordioned like the Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons, the poor soul you hit when you find yourself bearing down on him after whipping around one of the many curves on those roads, probably won’t. Grow up.

No and no. From what i remember, radar jammers are illegal because it's regulated by one of the government acronym's, however because laser uses a light beam, it can't be regulated and jamming doesn't project any type of jamming out, it simply disturbes the reflection back. I'm sure Jake will correct any errors.

The same thing happened to me on 495. I was trying to get to work all the way to orient point. I got clocked at 100 something in a 55 + 7 other tickets, one of them being reckless driving which is a misdemeanor in NY, I forgot which lawyer I used, but what I did was I found a lawyer in that municipality, forgot what the cost was $1,500ish i think? I dressed to the T during the court day when i went with him and he spoke to the prosecutor he asked if i was working with him lmao. Anyway long story short they gave me 10 points dropped the reckless driving and some others and paid like a $500 dollar fine. Moral of the story I now drive 55mph on every single highway even ones with higher speeds limits lol. Saves gas, and much safer.
