Do you mean air intake resonator?
I'm not sure if our cars have one, but I can tell you that if it does, do not bypass it. Resonators make pressure waves move in such a pattern as to optimize air/fuel flow through the intake valves. They are of a certain size so that it reflects a pressure wave at the right time to jam more air through the intake valve and into the cylinder (or to keep exhaust gases from flowing out). Removing this would only serve to reduce the power of your engine. Last edited by WDE46; 12-03-2012 at 01:54 PM. |

Dude! You been on the pints way too early for us.
What are you trying to bypass? It just hit me, you are asking about a 318, and we don't have those in the states. |

Do you mean resonator? I'm pretty sure that's what you mean.
![]() Part number 5 (13717506181) Yeah, I wouldn't remove this part. It does not cause any loss of power. It is there to make power. Some sites are calling it a silencer, but that is not it's primary function. If you really want it gone, you could just hack it off with a saw and patch that hose with a bunch of tape. Don't bypass the MAF. It's there for a reason.
If you want to make your intake louder, buy a Cold Air Intake kit. |

I mean it would be pretty straight forward. It's not like I've done it before. Like I said, I would not do this. It is there for a good reason. If you want a loud intake, just get a CAI kit from somewhere. Keep the resonator.

Why would you want to go fast on the Isle of Skye? There's basically only one farm road around the whole island.
