Unless you need something extra from the hotel, you don't need to put down the actual amount of guests. If however, you will need an extra bed, cott, etc, you might have an issue.

You don't have to drive you can take the train I can tell you the drive into the city especially to times square and for that event isn't something you'll be able to do

I will say though, NYC has probably one of the WORST New Years celebrations of any major city on the planet, and yes, I am being serious. It's cold, crowded (you won't be anywhere NEAR times square unless you stand for 12 hours before hand), drunks, a stupid ball drops etc. Its not pretty, its overpriced. Why do you want to come to NYC so badly during this time of year? It is probably one of the worst times to be in NY.

I wouldn't need anything extra from the hotels, so fvck entering the number of guests! And I really don't care for New Years/ball drop, but her family has never been to NYC, so I figure why not go now lol. They live in Canada and it's going to be the second time they come to the states, so I'll let them be tourists for a few days

Thats funny. I'm doing the opposite. Im from NYC, and going to Quebec/Montreal for new years. Great time of year to be there, and everything is dirt cheap. 5 Star Fairmont Hotels are $150 a night. As for guests, you can easily just put down 2 per room. Just make sure you get the room you want bed wise (ie 2 queens, etc)

I would recommend checking out what others have won by bidding on priceline/hotwire.

hmm maybe try the Hotel Tonight app... it is a flash deal but is based off of cancellations and I have looked during "prime" nights on the day of and found good options. If you are willing to gamble and head to NYC then you might be in luck, the app deals open @ 3pm local I think. My gf and I flew to NYC for our anniversary and I literally booked our hotel when we were taxiing into LAX... ended up 2 blocks from Time Square for 160 a night... major gamble for your timing though.

Haha, nice. I went up and celebrated New Years with her and her family for the past 2 years, so it'll be nice to be able to celebrate it with both of our families this year.

Thanks for the advice, I'm putting down 2 people per room now!

Completely forgot about that! Thanks! I'm seeing a few in the Empire State Building area for around $300 a night, and I'm going to try tomorrow to see if I can bid $200 in the financial district (doubt it, but I'll see the best offers).

Haha, that would be fun to do if it were just me and her, but with 13 people total I can't risk it. Too many people and a 5 hour drive is too much to risk. Thanks though
