No idea about the actual CONSUMER cost/benefit of a Prius over the car's lifetime, but there was a study by CNW Marketing Research that found "hybrid vehicles used more energy in their lifetime, from creation to disposal, than many SUVs. The tagline of one of CNW’s releases was, 'Hybrids Consumer More Energy in Lifetime Than Chevrolet’s Tahoe SUV.' " The study included R&D which, in my opinion it shouldn't, but there's a skew. I think there was also some controversy over the smelter's they used to make the battery acid doing damage to the o-zone? Not sure on that one.

Not hatin', although I really don't like Prius's.

The first study I was referring to was about actual energy consumed. Not environmental damage. Who cares about the environment? (heh heh)

Thats the point of the study, to show carbon foot print, which to some is a direct reflection on environment damage.

I like to downshift next to every Prius I can so they can hear me hurting the environment.

Pretty sure I cancel out all the good that Prius's could potentially do for our environment.

Not wrong, I've looked into it for the sole purpose of talking a close friend out of buying one. If you really want to save money, buy an old Honda or Toyota for under $5k and cover it with liability only.

(Please pardon my auto-correct)

You are wrong. I'm sorry but if you take into account all costs of ownership, you will see the inaccuracies of your original statement. If you're really interested send me a pic of your ten or even seven year financial analysis, done with trolls for tonight.

Lol, actually, the other day I read about how the 15 largest transport ships in the world pollute more than every car in the world combined.

Actually there was a study out of china on hybrid cars stating from creation to disposal they generate more pollution. However this is taking in to account that china's power system consists of primarily coal fired power plants.

Haha, yea, I'm a troll, that must be it.

Hybrids are only popular because people like to think they're doing something good for the environment when in fact they're causing more harm than good. It's like people who buy electric cars thinking that they're being more "green" when in fact all that "cheap" electric power is coming from petroleum or coal anyway

Again, if you want to save money, buy an older car and maintain it properly (that's a big part of why I drive a 10 year old BMW in the first place)

I was under the impression that the Prius was introduced to the market to "balance" the carbon footprint...
Some will drive the clown car so I can continue to drive my 14mpg Dodge Hemi or my 28mpg E46. I don't mind paying more per mile anymore than I mind paying more for a sit-down dinner in a decent eatery vs utilizing the McDonald's drive through.

^lol. Prius drivers are the most annoying drivers on the road. Especially when combined with their kumbaya proclaming "coexist" stickers.

Yes, but it's a load of crap. There's tons of evidence out there that shows Prius' actually cause more harm to the environment just to build than any gas powered car on the road.

(Please pardon my auto-correct)
