330ci Shifter Knob Question

So I just got my stock wood grain interior trim panels wrapped to a brushed aluminum, but I didn't wrap the shifter knob. Is there a difference between a manual shifter knob an a semi-automatic shiter knob? I have an '05 330ci that is semiautomatic, and I'm worried that a manual shifter knob won't be compatible. All that I would get would be the knob, the little handle part, so I feel like manual/semiautomatic would both work. Is this true? Also, any suggestions on what kind/brand/color? I'm thinking I'll just go with a brushed aluminum/chrome.

Thanks,

Kevin

From what you say, you have the Steptronic 5 speed transmission. Yes, there is a difference in the knobs. The automatic has the button on it so you can't accidently change gears.

Kevin - I've seen a few people on this forum install a manual gear shift knob on an automatic car, but it's not necessarily compatible. Not to mention, it looks kinda silly, IMO. Do a search to see if you can find the threads.

There are many automatic shift knob options that are either black and/or brushed aluminum, that will match your new brushed interior trim.

There's also the shifter that came on the ZHP automatic (may have come on other models, not real sure)

-you can get this at Tischer BMW (www.getbmwparts.com) among other places
