My Ride: E46 330i ZHP
New from Atlanta

Hello. My name is Tyler. I am from Atlanta. I have been searching for an e46 330i, zhp or non, for a few months now (I am very particular). Many of those searches lead to E46fanatics. So here I am.

I have not owned a BMW yet, but have driven a few. I hope to find a manual facelift e46 330i sport package with sunroof (preferably silver on black).

Also hope to learn more about the e46s. I know that changing out the starter on an e46 is a serious pain in the after having done this to a friends 325ci. Also that the oil cap can be a cuss to get loose. Sadly thats where my hands on knowledge stops, but I hope to change that soon.

Current stable includes:

daily/drifter AE86

full drift S13

As purchased: Thanks to aidan530 for taking such immaculate care of the car! Hope you have found your new BMW.

Picked up some wheels from the Apex group buy. 18x9+31 EC-7s and slapped on some 225/40 and 235/40 S-Drives. Front fit is great. Clears no problem, could even fit a 235/40 with the right alignment settings. The rears were a bit of a challenge tho. Had I run 225/40s on the rear as well the tires would have cleared without issues and would not have needed any fender rolling/pulling. However I just couldn't drop from a 255 to a 225 and been happy, nor could I run a 9+42 as it has the less concave face. So out came the fender roller and I spent a few hours slowly working them until the tires cleared everything. I did have to undo the metal bracket that holds the very front of the rear bumper to the quarter panel and then grind down the bolt stud so it wouldn't decide to cut into a tire under heavy cornering. Honestly the rears with with the right tire could house the 9.5+35s without a problem, or even the 10+43s. On with the pics

I also couldn't leave the front alone as you can tell. Got some of the Vans yellow tint spray and hit up the high beam bowls, slapped in the amber LED corners, and got a set of halos. The clubsport splitters have been removed as I have an Arqray lip awaiting paint so it can be installed.

Well I had a wheel sensor go bad so I started poling around to see what caused it to fail. Discovered the front swaybar endlink was literally crushing it at full lock. Come to find out the car had BC coils for the E46 M3 on it which use a different endlink. So I replaced the wheel speed sensor with a fresh one and made sure to route the wiring so that it would no longer get crushed. I also decided to change out the BCs for something made for a non-M E46. Fortune Auto to the rescue. I ordered the 500s with 7k front/11k rear Swift spring upgrade and roller bearings on the front coils to keep the spring from binding. The Fortune Autos are very well made and were valved specifically for my spring rates (which they do for any spring rates while building the coilovers to order specs). They also retain the factory length endlinks so no more wheel speed sensor wiring getting crushed at full lock. After driving on them for a week so far I gotta say the car feels much smoother and more responsive than it did on the BCs. The FAs have a bit more travel and absorb bumps much better. My car also doesnt have that weird squirm under acceleration while cornering which is very comforting. While installing the coils I also decided to lower the car just a little bit more and take out some of the camber for better tire wear and for a more flush look on the wheel fit. Looks spot on, but the rear fenders will need a bit more work to get rid of the rubbing under hard cornering. Looks like I will need to shave down the fender where it meets the rear bumper and roll the lip as flush as possible all around.

Other than that I picked up a Arqray style front lip from Khoalty. Love their customer service. Have bought majority of my lighting from them and they always come through with email updates and tracking info. Looking into a CSL style trunk, but still scouring the internet as to which of the ones out there have the best fit. Also looking into roof spoilers. Once I have the trunk and roof spoiler I will take them and the front lip to my paint guy along with the car to get everything prettied up. Going to let my paint guy take care of the rear fender lips as well since I am fairly sure they will need some paint touch up after getting beat into submission.

Forgot to add I grabbed some window visors from Venttec. I know most BMW people don't care for window visors at all and I understand why looking at almost every option available. Most stop at the little back window behind the actual rear window and that cut off just does not flow with the factory lines at all. The Venttec visors however follow the window all the way back thus keeping with the factory lines. The visors are also not in-channel so they don't sit super low from the trim surrounding the windows. I will say they were a pain to get on 'correctly'. By that I mean mounted so they didn't want to pull away form the car. Once I realized that 3 out of the 4 were pulling away at the ends I took them off, cleaned off the 3M adhesive tape and got out the heat gun. After some tweaking to get the visors to follow the natural curvature of the car new 3M tape was applied and the visors were re-mounted. They have been holding strong since.

Ignore the front ride height. That's the height they were set at from Fortune Auto which was way too low for me.

Interesting choice on only spraying one angel eye yellow. Did you just use krylon glass paint?
