Any unemployed mechanics living in Queens/Nassau want to make a few bucks?

You don't have to be unemployed or a mechanic, just have to have experience fixing cars (e46's preferably), and be able to spare a few hours on a Saturday/Sunday.

I'm pretty sure the starter in my car is gone. I don't really have a hill to try a push start but I'd like someone to help me push the car so I can try a push start. If that doesn't work I'd like to hire you to replace my starter. I'll supply all the parts. I'll also help with the labor (if you need help). (Don't worry, If the push start works I'll make it worth your time with other mechanical work I need done on my car)

If things work out smoothly and we get along well, I have a lot of mechanical work I'd like to get done on my car so I'd like to turn this into a long term thing. I like to DIY stuff but I work crazy hours and it's not possible for me to give my car that many hours of attention a week. I feel more comfortable having someone who's more mechanically inclined work with me with the limited free time I have. I could just have the car towed to a shop, but where's the fun in that right?

Post a reply here or feel free to send me a PM. I'd like to started on this work asap.

Might I suggest you make a thread about your car's issues in the General forum?

What makes you think it's the starter, besides, I assume, it's not cranking?

Is it clicking when you turn the key? Battery is usually a good first place to start...and there are a number of other issues that would prevent it from cranking besides the starter...corrosion on any number of grounds, loose connections, blown fuses, key, neutral safety switch, and then, I believe, also some sensors (I think crankshaft position sensor will cause no crank...but don't quote me).

HTH

Starter is, they say, a bitch (as I guess you know). You won't find many diyers who've done that...and if they have, it's probably only one time...so a little risky.

You're right I should make a thread in the general section.

But even still I'm looking to hire a backyard mechanic to help me with other projects I want to do on this car.
