how can I be sure that my mechanic is going to give me synthetic oil?
how do i know they wont just use regular? I will tell him to remember to use synthetic, but is there any way to check? (I wont be able to watch him do it.)

the part number/type of oil should be listed on the work order/receipt..

Start going some place else if service is that bad.
you should be collecting all records of anything done to your car. better for resale.

Having a Mechanic you can trust is soooo important.
If you're questioning the type of oil you're getting even after you ask him for synthetic...then it's time to find someone you can trust 100%

do your own oil change- then have them re-set code- this way you can keep your eye on them the whole time- i will never take my car to dealer w/out watching them- after they scratched my 2002 325ci--

You can probably tell by rubbing some of it with your fingers. Compare regular oil and sinthetic and see if you can tell the difference.
You should try changing it yourself. It's really not that hard and you'll always know what's in it. |

Still, I think the best is to DIY. save money and have the best for your car
sometimes, dealer will reset the computer for you for free. |

I dont know if i trust him yet. I would do it myself, but this oil change is the one with my tune up (inspection).. plus I dont want to get any oil on my hands or under my fingernails.. not to mention if any gets on my velvet jogging suit..j/k
