You should talk to his dad. There are 17 year old kids who are responsible enough to drive a M3, but your friend does not sound like one especially given that he is "too good" for HPDEs and autocrosses.

Sorry, she is married and 58. However, my sister looks 40 (to you young guys, that sounds ancient, but to us older guys that sounds pretty good.) She has continued her affinity for sporty cars. Her daily driver: an immaculate and perfectly restored black 1978 Datsun 280z 5 spd with updated suspension and brakes. Everything works - sunroof, power everything, a/c. I keep asking her to leave it to me in her will.

Sorry about hijacking the thread, OP. Everyone gets to be young and dumb once, and having parents with $$$ only complicates matters. I agree with the idea that an M3 will be extremely crash worthy. If your friend buys it, make him put a little statue of St. Christopher in it.

ITT OP is jelly.

Dont worry op i was in the same situation except my friends parents bought him a fully loaded imola red 05 m3 smg for 32k a couple years back. He spun it out getting onto the highway and thankfully didnt damage it or get killed. He rarely goes past 4k rpms now and wants to get rid of it for a newer acura TL (which he should have gotten from the start as it suits his driving style and needs better)

The reason he wanted the m3 was so he could chill with all of us who had modded bmw's so i really didnt say not to get it but suggested a zhp instead. I was jelly for like a week then got over it. Who cares if your friend gets an m3. Its his life not yours.

You jelly because he will rape your car.

How would you know the "Raw power" of an M3? Its fast.... but it wont blind you with acceleration...

How do you know he wont take brilliant care of the car?

If he crashes it.....its his problem. Not yours.

It definitely puts a smile on my face every time I hit the throttle.

Then I immediately hate myself when I notice that a 1/4 tank of gas is missing.

Never tell him about DSC. If he learns to turn it off, then he will crash. It will be best for him to just not know about it. Otherwise he'll probably start trying to drift or something stupid.
