EDM on Strut Carrier Bolt. No Correct?
Hello Guys,
Bolt seized in carrier with ez-outs (Snap-On) Struck in at least 1 End (bottom)*. Probably Both*.
I'm almost positive no do to heat but I'm often widely surprised by the counter intuitive physics welding-type wizardry.
Can it be done? Or does it generate too much heat, too close to the strut.
A guy I work with suggested it and said to bring the whole strut & carrier to his buddy in the am. This guy is a former heavy equipment mechanic (that does not offer help or advice & has a short attention span) but the brief bit I got was that this machine shop would charge, as his friend, ~$50. I doesn't seem to make sense.
I'm headed to harbor freight now to grab ball joint separator. I was thinking of picking Carbide Burs', A New Drill, Oil, & A million of the hardest bits they have.
*I'm now pretty sure there's easy outs in both-The Mechanic that broke it literally ground down the easy out/bolt to a mirror finish-smooth, no space between easy out and bolt. Pretty sure the difference in colors aren't the bolts composition.
Many Thanks,
Brian
