If I ever end up going FI (in the DISTANT future) the designation will be 335xi. Turbo or SC = 10 right? 325+ 10 = 335!

I sent the seller a message asking about the head gasket and for a copy of the mechanical diagnosis.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Who doesn't fix a car that only needs a few parts before selling it? A non-running car is worth thousands less than a running one, and the whole belt/tensioners/wp is only a few hundred. Doesn't make sense.

The dude overheated the car, towed it to a shop, the shop said "the headgasket is blown, no point in fixing the water pump now" and the guy towed the car home and is selling it to the first sucker that comes along. What a piece of work.

Why? Even if the car didn't die and was running strong it wouldn't be worth what he's asking.
I'd pay $1000 for it in its current state

I pass this guys area on the way home from work, I think I'll stop and look at it. Any good way to verify if it is the head or head gasket, maybe white smoke from the tailpipe... Perhaps a lowball offer is in order...

If I were you, I would make sure to tell him to overhaul his whole cooling system.

They'll eventually rust and blend in with the rust color of the grand canyon floor

what you gonna offer him $5 for it?? You did see his ad states $8 and not $8K

I'd love to see his face when you say you'll take it and pay cash now. Pull out a ten dollar bill and hand it to him then ask, do you have change? ask for the keys and title with a straight face.

Seriously speaking wouldn't you end up with more power if you did. A n54/55 swap and JB'd that mofo than a regular NA s54 because no one has put a HPF kit on a sedan yet with s54 swap
