If you use other Apple products - iPhone.

Anything else - S3.

Typed with fat fingers on a Droid X using Bimmer App.

There aren't any problems with the iPhone 5. Why would we need an excuse to defend perfection?

Go into the same thread, and talk abot a feature you like, or are excited about, and the usual suspects are there to tell you why Samsungs version is better, and faster, and looks better, and works better, and has been out for months, and is nothing new, or nothing revolutionary...

Then when you disprove myths, with facts, you are called a fan boy.

I say go GS3. More universal for your regular life. If you go apple, you have to wear skinny jeans, glasses and recite poetry to drums at coffee bars. With the GS3, you will be the anti-hipster hipster.

Seriously, go GS3, no one cares about your phone. Some like apple because it works better for them, others like Samsung because they hate apple, or truely think it is a better phone. Whatever the case may be, don't go apple.

It's more like, go into the iPhone 5 owners thread, rehash a topic that was already discussed 10 pages ago doing little research, and get told to GTFO.

Some problems with the phone are legitimate. 8-9/10 are not. Like lens flare.

OP this thread will go nowhere. Go try out both. Decide whether you need a bigger screen like the S3. Decide if build quality is a priority. If it is maybe look at a One X+. How much do you care about aesthetics? Etc.

As NOVA said, it's like asking about oil. Or Audi vs BMW. Or coffee or tea. You're just gonna get people all hot and bothered.

I like my iPhone. The other phones seem nice but when androids get over 6 months old they feel old and statistically start breaking. This goes for past models. Not speaking directly about the s3.
I also HATE how big the other phones are. I don't even really like how big the new iPhone 5 is.

No love for the Droid Razr Max HD. Best battery life of any smartphone with the same type of screen as the Samsung Galaxy 3. The Samsung Galaxy Note II has battery life on par or better than the Razr Max HD but it's significantly bigger (think phablet size with 5.5 inch 720P screen).

Best Phones on Verizon:

Iphone 5
Samsung Galaxy S3
Droid DNA (this is slightly bigger than the GS3 and only has 16GB of memory and no expandable storage but it has the best screen of any smartphone - 5 inch 1080P SLCD3, GPU/Chipset is the best out right now for android - S4Pro)
Droid Razr Max HD (same internals as SGS3 but smaller screen at 4.7 and larger non removable battery at 3300mah, only 9.3mm thin)
Samsung Galaxy Note II (significantly bigger than all other phones but you can do more)

Just my $.02

Consumer Reports actually rated the Razr Max HD the #1 phone on Verizon.

But they also rated the S3 #4 and the iPhone 5 #6, so I doubt many people take the ratings seriously.

Oh and my vote is you get a iPhone 5, imagine that Easiest OS to use and seamless touch screen.

Plus you can sell your iPhone 5 in two years for $250-$300 depending on GB. Try doing that with ANY other phone.

A bunch of people my parents' generation have GS3's. I used my mother-in-law's phone last night. Feels like a toy, and was slow as F.

iPhone feels like a quality piece of hardware, and is snappy. GS3? Not so much.

Any thoughts guys?
I've owned both and I recommend the iPhone 5. Battery life is amazing and it is the faster of the two phones. I really doubt the s3 can beat it in battery life. I'm at 75% now and have about 24 hours if standby time on it.

The s3 still had a ton of lag, so unless you are going to rom it I would go iPhone. iPhone has its own problems with manufacturing defects now so be prepared to deal with it.

What do you want out of your phone?

iPhone:
-apps
-accessories
-a simple, clean package
-prompt updates for 2+ years
-works well with other Apple stuff

Android:
-customizability
-replaceable/higher capacity batteries
-giant screen
-better maps
-better voice recognition

I expect Google to always have better maps and voice rec technology but if your phone doesn't get updates, the iPhone may catch up. Unless you love hacking stuff. Then you should go Android for sure.

It has nothing to do with the iPhone 5... It is iOS 6. No one running iOS 6 has a jail break available.
