What interior LED lighst to use

Hi everyone,

For the e46, the glove box, license plate and foot well can use the 36mm festoon. Why do they have so many different LED setup? More LEDs doesn't necessaruly mean they are brighter or last longer right? More LEDs I would think has a higher probability of LEDs going out.

I would think 1 or 3 LEDs are the best and last longest. What do you folks know? They dont have any specs.

OEM sizing is actually 39mm for the footwell, glovebox and license plate lights. 44mm for the trunk lights and vanity lights. Sure you can bend the leads to make the 36mm work but why not get the correct size.

I stuck with the 3 SMD LEDs when creating my setup. As a heads up, those can be picked up on ebay for as little as $0.99 a piece. No need to spend nine times as much for a single bulb that is most likely manufactured by the same facility

Is there a reason you went with 3? Just personal preference?

How do you know which ones are reliable? I used to buy from superbrightleds.com and they go out every 6 month and they charge like $6-10/bulb plus shipping. Free shipping over $25

I see the word "canbus" which I have no idea. Sounds like the better kind?

This is one I found

The 3 panel LED bulbs were a closer match to the sizing of the original incandescent bulbs. I didn't look much into any resistors or "canbus" when purchasing as I'm not concerned with the BC warnings. Only one being the license plate light which can be programmed via PAsoft
