Engine misfiring, pcv looks fine...
Alright so my car has had a very rough idle since I got it though I haven't really been driving it. Turned it on last week and it shuts down immediately. Looked under the hood and saw the upper and lower intake boot were torn into pieces. Put on new ones yesterday and now it stays on but still the rough idle. (shaki g engine and bouncing rpm) I went and bought a code reader and came up with all of this:
P0313 P0300 P1344 P1349 P1351 P1346 P0174 P0313 P0300 So I do some research and decided to go replace the pcv valve and pipes as they're probably in the same state as my intake boots. Just finished taking all the hoses off the pcv and they all look completely fine. All are still flexible with no apparent holes. I'm thinking it's possible po may have changed them. Is it worth installing them anyway or should I return them? I'm on a college budget so if they're not bad I need the money to fix whatever is wrong. Is there a way to test the pcv or tubes once they're off the vehicle? Thanks |

That's actually where I read and decided to try the pcv. DISA looks fine though dirty, icv looks slightly dirty. Is there a way to test the old tubes and pcv?

Suggest you check the CCV lower oil return line as this is a very common problem and pretty cheap and easy to change. The CCV probably need to be replaced, but the oil return line can buy you some time.
Also valve cover problems, oil fill cap and dip stick O-rings are something to look closely at.

Looking at my oil return line it looks fine. I just made a video showing condition of parts so far. Any input is appreciated.

Alright I wrapped a glove around one and of the two pcv pipes and blocked the other end and tried to blow. Held the pressure so the hoses seem fine. Should I go ahead and replace them or is there someway to tell if the pcv is bad after taking it out?

I changed the PCV and the white smoke was gone....SES/CEL went away after replacing the PCV.
2 months after, the SES/CEL came on and the rough idling started. Code read P1351 (#5 coil). Did the following and the test worked fine, going to install a new BOSCH coil from autozone for $34, I'll let you know the results tomorrow |

Installed coil... problem solved. Running normal. SES light still on, I'm hoping a few miles of driving will reset it.
