Holy Batman! Rears gone after 9k!!
Well. As usual I can never go to a tire place without getting bad news. In for an alignment on my 330cic and the guy tells me I need new rears cause I have cords showing on the inside!!! You got to be kidding me!!??
These are almost new Kumhos from Tire Rack. I have just barely over 9k on these things. Never gone thru tires this fast. Do I just have to deal with it?

At a minimum you need an alignment, highly likely you may also need to replace your RTABs.

My 323 managed to wear the rears as seen on 2nd row here in less than 6000 miles:
![]() About -6mm wear in 6000 miles. The rears were ike the fronts before that summer - and I did no burnouts

Do you guys not buy tires with warranties? Pretty sure my tires have a 15k mile warranty

Sounds like your toe is off... Take it to a dedicated suspension shop so that they can inspect everything and perform an alignment.

Tread wear warranties typically do not cover wear due to a bad alignment or worn suspension components. Most summer performance tires do not have wear warranties on them anyway...Michelin is one of the few exceptions.

I got the same thing. About 6k miles on my rears and inner side is worn to the cord.
Got an alignment, the Toe in and negative camber were off. Once dialed in to proper alignment, you can see the wheel is with a lot less negative camber. New Michelin Super Pilot Sports were installed before alignment. I hope they hold up well since they were $$. Others have suggested RTAB as cause for this. My repair technician didn't see any issue with the suspension bushings. I am hoping it's not RTAB but if the uneven wear happens again, I will have to take the car to a BMW specialist. |

I have to replace my front bushings, left front was shot. Once I get that done, back in for alignment. But I suspect my rear is close to correct. Both rears have exact same wear on inside and shop says its simply due to the 1.5 to 2 degrees of camber that I'm running. I didn't think toe was adjustable on rear?

That little camber should not wear your tires in 9,000 miles.

Not if the toe is set correctly and the RTABs are in good shape.

Yup. Toe + Camber = Destroyed tires. If everything is straight but the camber is off, you should see tires last for a while.

Yes I went through my last set of rears in less than 10,000 kms all because of toe in...
