Lowering my 330xi.

I have a 330xi and i want to lower it. I also have style 162 wheels on it. Is it possible to lower the car with those wheels without having the rear wheels rubbing the plastic part?

Xi's don't go that low Worse case you might need a fender roll (depending how wide the rear tires are), but that's it.

Perhaps the search feature could be your friend? Topics of lowering and Angel Eyes has been, lets say, well discussed. Go over to the General forum should you want three hundred posts about Angels to review. Stick around the XI forum to search out lowering discussions.

Note: The XI doesn't exactly slam. That would be an M3 guy poking in that comment. Nice car but he should go back to his M house and not mislead new guys!

my old daily driven xi, fk silverline coilovers, no rear perches, fronts maxed out, 18x8.5 oz mito2, 215/35/18 and as far as slamming a xi yes it wont go that low compare to the M but hey mine was low enough but still drivable even after i sold it to my friend he hasnt mention anything to me about axle problems or anything. So before you say I know nothing bout the xi my username isn't xi Chee for a reason.

It might be the picture Mr. Chee but it sure looks like you had a rear camber problem. Have to see a shot from the rear to verify. I see "slammed" bimmers running around with fat tires that are almost humorous when you're behind 'em.

Reminds me of VW bugs in the 70's lookin' all cock-eyed from the back.

There is a xi suspension post up/poll thread somewhere.

I really think they should sticky it.

I lowered my XI on tein s lowering springs an has a nice ride. It's sits about the Same ride hight as Xi Chee's Xi he sold. Your also gonna need lower adjustable control arms to adjust the camber in the rear, or just burn through tires because, of camber. The control arms are about $120. An easy to install.

the tires on my xi was skinny, i'm tucking 275/30/19 on my 19x11's and it has the perfect fat look to it from behind to me. and yes it was that way because i wanted it to have some negative camber. i have -2 degree camber all around on my M3 right now, cant tuck tires without positive camber. i <3 my negative camber. and camber does not make the tires wear out faster. camber makes it wear uneven, alignments and toe makes tires wear out faster.

As stated above, you shouldn't have any issues with rubbing with your current set up. How aggressive are you thinking of going?

You have two paths, coilovers or springs and shocks. Most go with coilovers giving them the ability to fine tune their ride height (or just go a lot lower than springs will allow). H&R Sports and Bilsteins are one of our most popular spring and shock kits (LINK), that set up will lower your car a little over an inch from the factory ride height. For coilovers (LINK), FKs are very popular as they are some of the lower riding quality coils on the market.

Will the H&R springs and Bilstein's lower the car to the ride height of a RWD E46?
