Best cheap FSU?

Ok fellas, my FSU needs replaced. The mechanics working on it (I would do it myself but am starting a new job & don't have time) priced for an OEM part, but I know you can get them for around $70. So what site has the best low price FSU?

Do not cheap out and spend $35 on ebay for a cheap Chinese FSU. You'll be replacing it within about 6 months with a better one, like the Behr and it will wind up costing much more than it should have in the end. Don't bother asking me how I know...

I bought the cheap eBay one And it's still going strong after 5-6 months. YMMV but if I could go back I'd probably get the behr just for the piece of mind

After much careful study and research

I'd strongly recommend going with the URO version to save the measely $15.
It sounds like it came from Europe, so even tho it doesn't, you know the quality is very very high. And the Chinese will thank you. (probably get forture cookies to go with your order)

Most shops will charge between $100-150 per hour plus parts depending where you're at. $300 seems a bit high unless they're using an expensive OEM part. It only takes about an hour as a DIY.

If $100 bills don't just randomly fall out of your pockets as you walk down the street you may want to check out the DIY forum for an FSU DIY. There are a couple posted IIRC. The job will take you probably an hour and a half if you're slow.

Which Behr FSU (two are listed at AutohausAZ):

64116923204

$48.36
I think this is the 39-pin original POS

or

64116920365

$58.88
I think this is the updated 58-pin unit.

Bavarian Autosport also has this Behr unit listed:

351321511
"Same as 64 11 6 923 204 and 64 11 6 920 365."

$41.95
A bit less than those listed at AutohausAZ above.

It sounds like it came from China.
I have revised my opinion of URO. They seem to produce cheap chinese crap.

Yeah I can testify to this. I bought one from a China supplier and i took 2 and 1/2 weeks to get here only to find out it doesn't output the same power as my old one or even the replacement I had decreases the blower speed. It sucks on hot days! Buy Behr! Don't go too cheap.

Behr, getting to the FSU is a huge hassle and its not worth saving the 30ish bucks to have to go through the whole process again

i have an ebay one and it has been fine for 3 years. results may vary but everyone making assertions that ebay stuff is crap...just STOP unless you have empirical evidence to support your claim. Making assertions with zero science is valueless. you might be right...but you cannot be certain. some parts are fine.

let's also all think about how many OEM parts are terrible. the allegiance to OEM parts makes sense to a point, but not when it comes to items that fail so commonly! sometimes a gamble on an aftermarket part is worth it if the OEM unit is so prone to failure. sometimes they even burn your car down.

i'm not anti-oem. im just against people with literally zero experience trashing a part they have never used with absolute certainty. that's not responsible.

Part number 64116920365 (second photo) has been superseded to 64116923204 (first image). Ordered one from AutohausAZ a few months ago and can confirm it's the correct, updated part. According to BavAuto the 351321511 part number is the same as the updated version, and they're a reliable vendor and forum sponsor, as well.

As of right now, a few other good prices on the Behr FSR are:

- $44.99 at eEuroparts (Free shipping on $99+)
- $47.07 at RM European (Free shipping on $65+)
- $48.36 at AutohausAZ (Free shipping on $75+)
- $48.44 at FCP Euro (Free shipping on $49+)

If you do a lot of price comparison and want a streamlined method across some of the most popular vendors, take a look at www.bmwpnpc.com or click the link in my sig to read the forum post.
