Hello all XIer's. I have just purchased my first BMW and am very excited. It is 01 330xi. With 80,000klm all stock for $6,000chf. I am a Canadian living now in Switzerland. I wanted a car that would be safe in the winters here. On all the crazy roads. Our house is at 1000 meters above sea level. And we go up and down almost everyday. It is great to find a forum dedicated to our cars. This will be a god send in the future. For I fear I will be using it plenty.

Anyway hello to all. And Viva XI.

Hey Arnezie thanks for the welcome. It was scary buying this car. Had no idea what to look for. The deal presented itself unexpectedly on a trip to Geneva. Never looked on a forum beforehand. Drove it around for about an hour testing what I could. And listening for sounds. Could squeeze underneath to check the boots. But it all looked good. Did not have a chance to get it inspected. Just took a leap of faith. I guess time will tell.

Just read the wiki and learn to replace things yourself and you will have a long lasting love affair with how easy these cars are to maintain (with the help of this forum and some youtube videos)

Ah I remember the days when I was so excited to own and drive my car. Now, after being covered in CV grease and other such fluids, I'm not so excited.

Congrats OP, as was said welcome to perpetual maintenance!

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Since I have bought the car everything is great. I have been doing a lot of reading and most of the maintenance seems easy enough. Couple jobs not so easy. The biggest thing I think will be diagnosing the problems as they arise. But that's what this forum is for. So very happy to have you all around.

Thanks Rickna fir ghe welcome. It appears I will be getting my hands dirty sooner than later. I have right now a slight vibration in the steering wheel at about 50mph. Over and under that speed there is nothing. I am going to get some new winter tires. I think that will fix it. If not any ideas would be appreciated.

Viva XI.

Check the front control arm bushings. They usually need replacement around 50k mi.
