Help with e46 325ci drive shaft problem

Car: 2004 325ci coupe RWD auto 182k miles

Problem: drive shaft vibrates / shudders shaking center console at 20 to 30mph

Already changed: guibo, center support bearing, trans mounts, driver side cv axle rear, and rear differential bushing, all four brake rotors.

I checked the U-joints on the drive shaft they are smooth not notchy and not hard to move.

Can someone please point me in the right direction to get this annoying issue fixed?

Thanks a lot

Sounds like it may not be a driveshaft problem, since you already replaced/checked almost everything in that area. Does the shaking happen in any gear at that speed?

That's in a way good news, because if it happened always in the same gear, it could be an internal transmission problem. Is there any play at the transmission output shaft flange? Sometimes the bolt holes are elongated. Is the driveshaft centered in the tunnel? The driveline can transmit vibration from further away. Have you looked at the differential bushings?

I changed the diff bushing already.

What do you mean by holes elongated?

The output shaft has play about 1 mm in all directions up down left right

And about 2mm in and out play. I saw someone else had way more play without vibrations I don't suspect that to be my issue

OP-

Any update?

You mentioned the rear diff bushing being changed. Did that include the two smaller bushings also?

Thx

How did you diagnose that? I have vibration from about 23 to 25 mph on acceleration only, that can only happen in first or second gear (auto) depending on how much your foot is into it. I did guibo and support bearing with no change. I don't want to just start replacing expensive parts hoping to get lucky!

I diagnosed it by my brother laying under rear while on jacks and me driving it in the air and he heard noises coming from diff that weren't normal.

Secondly one of my output shaft on differential was wobbling up and down slightly

And third the diff had 180k on it and never had fluid change likely so that's another thing that makes sense with it being bad because if ur guibo is good and ur csb and ur diff bushings that's one more thing u should check its gotta be the diff.

Wise to have the brother underneath and you driving I'll give it a try. My 323 had 202000 miles so that could be it. Thanks!

Tried that this weekend with daughter driving and me under the car. No luck, couldn't see, hear or feel any vibration Back to the drawing board.
