I give mad props for those starting your own corporation, doing payroll, and managing without having a background or parents within that industry and surviving.

I would never do my own payroll. I would be too scared of screwing up the withholding requirements for my employees and winding up personally liable for their taxes. I just run payroll through ADP and call it a day.

it's actually not that bad to use the withholding tax tables. i did that my first few years, but then quickbooks saves a lot of time.

the hardest part for me was that pay scales were always changing, so my schedule to pay was always changing.

It's worth the $50 per payroll to have someone else handle that entirely for me.

quickbook and timeslips with ledes.
I still think we use an old windows xp version. lol over the years ive learned to completely image the financial cpus to make clones for redundancy.

CPAs love redundancy.

Personally
even with cousins telling me to stick with the family biz,
the overhead of living at home, the paid for stuff, and not having enough spending cash(Always getting paid short by pops due to the "overhead") pushed me into a white collar job.

writing about it though.. and telling you guys..what really pushed me was a good friend/enemy of mine.

He had yelled at me in front of my house to belittle me regarding how I was too comfortable and spoiled and un-driven to to make money, especially outside of my family business.

Looking back. This firm is the same firm he was working at during our argument and fall out. God put me here and ten years in,I know truly. If you believe and have faith, god will take care of me & my enemies.

Okay!

off to the Christmas party!
