Stupid laws!!!!

I just have to rant about this.

I just went to the local state liquor store to grab a bottle of booze and was denied the purchase because my 26 year old son standing next to me at the check out didn't have a valid ID on him. I'm F^CKing 48 years old and I'm denied the ability to buy alcohol.
i
It's apparently state law that all of the parties in the group must have their ID. But get this, if my son was 12 years or younger I could purchase the alcohol with him standing next to me, with him possessing no ID. But once their over 12 their not allowed in the liquor store apparently.

What group of lame A$$ bureaucrats thought this up.

Knowing what I know now I would of. I don't buy booze very often so I haven't paid a lot of attention to the purchasing laws, Plus I've never seen a place where they ID the people besides the one making the purchase, They didn't ID me.

His ID is expired, that's why he didn't have it, I'm guessing since his ID is expired and not recognized buy the state, he doesn't need to pay taxes either. After all apparently he has expired and is no longer valid.

They won't let you, essentially have to wait til tomorrow or til a different cashier is on duty and the other has left. They must figure your going to buy it for a person who is void.

It's designed to prevent purchasing alcohol for a minor. If I was actually going to buy for a minor, you think I would take them in the store. I would definitely leave them in the car.

As I said in the other post, once the cashier sees you and denies you, they won't sell it to you till tomorrow.

They assume you will still be drinking with the other person.

does your town only have one liquor store? OP i'm starting to hate you. This is such a simple problem to fix, and you live in Utah.

As far as liquor laws, that's not too bad. Look into PA liquor laws, they are completely asinine.

Something similar happened to me awhile back. I went to purchase a pack of cigarettes for my uncle and my friend was standing next to me who is a year younger. They didn't have their id, so I couldn't buy the cigs. The clerk didn't believe me that were the same age and out of college. The crazy part is, when we were in high school we could get beer at the store. But now I can't even buy a pack of cigs cause my friend looks younger.

I totally agree with you.
