Refresh suspension
Hey what's up guys?
So I'm finally going to be getting around to the few issues I've been having... I'm replacing front control arms and bushing those have been bad for a while lol Now my rear shock finally started leaking a good amount more than its been so can't really put it off any longer. Now I've done my share of research and I was planning on doing a cup kit vs coilovers basically because of my budget I'd like to keep it on the less expensive side. Now I understand you get what you pay for so with that said... From what I've searched and read coupes have sport suspension so when I see this I get a little confused. If I understand correctly the only difference is the final amount they drop the car. Now if that's true and I go for the non sport suspension kit for a bit more of a drop, will I need any other supporting mods. Such as fender rolling or different sway bar links ? This is for standard suspension. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330..._Kits/ES10803/ This is for sport suspension. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330..._Kits/ES10802/ So I'm a bit puzzled as to which I'd actually use? I'm not so much interested in dropping the car a crazy amount, as NJ has horrible roads. I figured if I'm going to replace shocks and struts maybe I'd spend more and get better handling out of it. Now my other question is for just street use and maybe some occasional auto x, how would that fair vs a lower end coilover? Perhaps I'm wasting money doing springs and should just do good shocks and keep OE springs, as I'm happy with the performance currently since its my DD? My thought process was call it 700 for a cup kit, a good set of shocks/struts such as koni yellows is 600 so for 100 is the gain that good? I also plan on replacing all other parts. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330...ers/ES2593733/ So I don't want to go cheap but I feel for me coilovers are going to be more than what I need. Where as a cup kit sounded rather good for the amount I'm going to spend vs just replacing shocks. Now I've just asked half a dozen questions and feel rather uneducated...I would truely appreciate someone with more knowledge filling me in a bit. Also quick edit: Build date 10/03, and last 7 of VIN PD96577. Tires I run are the standard 18 inch staggers set up. in case anyone needs that stuff.
