18th floor of my apartment complex flooded...wtf
Was studying for a final i have tomorrow at 9am, and fire alarm goes off. I didnt think anything of it, went to the balcony and saw water coming off the balcony a floor above, and fire department below. Proceeded to evacuate and saw my apartment was flooding.
Long story short, apparently one of the main pipes burst on the 18th floor, i'm on the 16th, and this was a rather massive leak. The water made its way down to the ground floor, there were outlets that had water pouring out. Luckily my apartment was on the complete opposite side of the building so i did not get much, but i can see it coming through the ceiling now. Case in point, the building so far has not done jack **** other than saying that there is a problem with the plumbing. To me this is a serious problem, and them offering to put us in motels that are nowhere near campus is bullshit. We pay almost $1500 in rent a month for the convenience of this place and the fact that its a "luxury" apartment complex. I'm back again asking is there anything i can do now? This is a pretty serious matter now. They are drilling into walls at 3am on school nights the night before finals. A mega wtf moment right now. Pics for srsness ![]() ![]() and a video, dont know if itll work. Thanks -R

Damn that reminds me of my girl's building last year. Pipe burst on the 21st floor and made its way down to the first floor. They put her and everyone else in a hotel for three months while they replaced all the carpet and drywall.

Plumbing doesn't GAF about "school nights". Water in carpets, drywall, electrical boxes and so on doesn't GAF about 3 am. Mold starting to grow all over 18 floors of a building doesn't GAF about your finals.
The bldg offers to put you up in a hotel and you . The bldg gets to work right away on fixing the plumbing and you . What do you want them to do? Wave their magic wand around and make it all better? Next time rent from Gandalf. Life happens. Deal with it.

Head to the library if you're that impacted. It's a big building with numerous rows of books and tons of kids on lap tops...however that's not important at this time.

You pay almost $1500 a month? That's cute.

And it's probably split anyways...I'd imagine one roommate at least, maybe two as it's a "luxury" apartment. I hope he's not living in a $1500 apartment by himself while in college...

"We" pay almost $1500? That means you pay less than $1500. OP is cute.

What's the problem? Water heads in your direction, just drill a hole in the floor.

That is not a flood. That is a minor inconvenience.
