The did in "leftist" California in the 70's (when I) and the 00's (when my GF daughter was being taught the subject)
Not to mention (1) that they weren't even selling them to American slave owners. They were generally selling them to the Europeans (like the Dutch, English, & Spaniards) they in turn were selling them to American slave owners, and those in other parts of the Americas.

The slaves were looked after because if something should happen to them, you lost your property since it would be useless to you. As a result, they were fed, clothed, sheltered, etc. Today, the majority of the prison population is black and young. Inner cities are some of the most dangerous places anywhere. They are not financially independent. Who's to blame? Absolutely the white man for victimizing the black race, rather than let them prosper. This is NOT taught in schools. When is it better for a young black man to be born? During slavery times, or now in the ghetto? It is a legitimate subject that is never talked about.
This a cr@pola. Talk about cherry picking.
It doesn't mention that 4 in 5 young black men aren't in prison. Depending on which figures you want to look at, less than 30% or 40% are on welfare. Or that they are actually holding down jobs, paying taxes, and being financially independent. And I won;t even go into the fact that slaves had no constitutional rights. No right to freedom of speech, no right to freedom of religion, no right to bear arms, no right to due process. No some slave owners allowed them to continue their religious traditions, but, most did not. Not to mention a slave owner had the right to kill or r@pe a slave at any time, just because they felt like it. I am not saying it was a daily occurrence, however, don't pretend there weren't a just a handful of those incidents a year.

I agree with everything you said. However, rarely will you hear what I said in school, and often you will hear what YOU said in school. All I want is for them to teach it ALL.

People that don't know me but dislike me due to the color of my skin rustle my jimmies.

Please do not try to publicly defame me, that's pretty low of you.

Your jimmies being rustled is open to interpretation. Racists have a lot in common with the members of WBC. If people simply ignore them then they have no stage.

Your one of those people who give them the attention they crave. You are equally as guilty them. And people like me are tired of both.

You are part of the problem.

Oh, so noticing that other people are racist...makes you a racist (if you're white). Excellent logic.

So calling racism out makes one a racist? News to me. "How white is that?"

You're supposed to invoke the soft racism of lowered expectations and just say 'oh that's just black people, deal with it!'

Do they teach the systematic genocide of native americans? How their land was forced from their by act of war perpetrated by "the good ole US of A. No they talk about "westward expansion" not a war of terror and weapons of mass destruction (relative to their time) used by US citizens and the US govt on these indigenous civilizations, in the effort to wipe them from the face of the planet.

They never teach all of history. If they did, they should also teach the revolutionary war from the context of the British. Something that is never done. Do you honestly think that if the confederacy had won the civil war, the teaching of slavery would be different. Should we teach about WWII in the context of the good that the **** party did for Germany. That it brought a basically third world country (post WWI) into a super power in less than 30 years, and they made the trains run on time.

There are always contexts of history that are omitted. The points that you raise are potentially viable socio-political points. But, in a historical study of the the first century of the US. Your arguments don't fit.

One can make the argument that the "black death" of the middle ages was one of the best things that ever happened in the history of western civilization. But, is it taught that way, hell no. Why? Because teaching that 1/3rd of your population dying off in less than a 40 years isn't politically correct.

As so many conservatives are so fond of mentioning. Life isn't fair, there are winners and losers. In the battle of history curriculum, the Liberal left" are the winners, so stop the whining.
