They don't get driven by anyone except me and on rare occasion, local Indy. Those that know their B's are the only ones that can speak their language!

I don't "loan" my BMW to anyone. I'm very selective about who I'll let drive it (family members and close friends).

I'll loan the Kia or the Honda, but I'm still selective. I'm legally liable for what happens with the car, no matter who is driving it.

Never had a regulator break on any of my E46s- in tens of thousands of miles. I find it peculiar that my cars are a consistent anomaly in that regard.

And my only real rule, regardless of who's driving, is no eating in the car. Drinking is fine.

No one is allowed to borrow my car. Not even my parents. If they need to go somewhere urgently, I'll drive them there.

For me I guess it would be

1. Do Not Ever open any of the windows. If you're at a McDonalds drive thru open the door to get your food

2. Premium Fuel only. I will know if you put in regular and come after you.

3. Avoid putting it in Reverse. If you have to put it in Reverse just let it idle don't give it gas. Reverse drum very fragile.

4. Every 90 seconds keep an eye on the temperature gauge. If it goes in red, pull over immediately and tow the car.

5. Whenever you buy fuel, check the oil level.

6. The car is rear wheel drive so no driving like an idiot in the winter

7. Don't pull the door handle towards you, pull at a 45 degree angle to the vertical.

8. Whenever you exit vehicle and are about to shut door, make sure the seat belt isn't in the way.

9. Do not put a pop can in the 2nd cup holder closer to the rear of the vehicle and attempt to use the arm rest.

All of it makes sense but what up with the oil?

Since I have a coupe with no door jams around the glass:

DON'T CLOSE DOOR BY PUSHING ON THE GLASS

If I needed to borrow a car from a friend and one of them gave me a list of such bullshit, I'd take the bus. If you need to explain such crap to your friends, then a) you're an overly anal asshole, and b) your "friends" aren't friends.

I've never had the need to borrow or lend my car out, but I know my friends would take better car of it than I do. Friends take care of each other's property - end of story.

We're using the term 'friend' loosely.
Gladly give you that bus fare if you needed.

I remember one time not to long ago me and my buddy went on a 12 hr road trip. he can't drive a standard but I was falling asleep and all he had to do was get into 6th and he was good to go.

1 to 2, a little jumpy.
2 to 3, at 35mph. I yelled DO NOT TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE CLUTCH!!! 2 to 3 was actually 2 to 1..

I saw my cars life flash before my eyes..

I only have one rule now. never let him sit in the drivers seat.

If you can't use a gear stick you can't drive. Why would you let someone who can't drive take your car?

It's not exactly his fault that you failed to plan rest stops and put him in a position he was not qualified for.

Obviously need to brush up on your US cultural gap.
99% have automatics here and stick people are looked at as weird.

Always am amused when the retardo car jacking set steals a car with a stick and then is caught by the police one block away as they are stalling the car out repeatedly.

LOL. That is a funny list.

Never needed to lend my car out. But my biggest thing would be parking it. Don't park it on the street unless necessary. Driveways and Parking garages only. If you park at the mall then park far away and walk.

In South Carolina we actually get a discount for driving a manual because it is considered a anti theft device....I went to test drive a new 335is and wanted it in manual, 2 in the united states, had to be special ordered. Standard Stick People is a must in my book, or it doesn't feel like you are driving the ultimate driving machine, rather pushing two pedals and moving a wheel. At least Crusin USA had a pretend stick....
